Putting Dr Høeg in charge "is like dropping an atom bomb," an agency source said.

"Multiple top-level officials are preparing resignations."

"It's an extinction level event. She's has never supervised a drug review, never has conducted a clinical trial. She doesn't understand laws &regulations."
Even ignoring Dr. Høeg's antivaccine views and obvious bias, she has no qualifications for the job. She does not know regulations, she does not know drug approvals, and she has no expertise in any relevant scientific area.
No wonder people are resigning.

Fascinating inside baseball kind of tidbit that may only interest me: just saw an ad for Novavax COVID vaccine that cited its lower side effect profile. First time I’ve ever seen that a manufacturer has attempted/been allowed to promote fewer side effects as a benefit for a vaccine

Can't remember if it was this bad before COVID but I'm seeing an alarming spreading of what I'll call Airport Behavior to other public places. Obliviousness to other people's existence, ineptitude at navigating the environment. "Is this your first time at the grocery store" type stuff

I really can't emphasize enough that if you care about local politics, all you gotta do is show up. Just a regular schmegular person showing up. Literally just show up consistently in person and within a remarkably short amount of time, you will have a shocking amount of influence.

WATCH: A nurse nearly blinded by a tear gas canister. Protesters trapped, struggling to breathe.

Under Trump 2.0, federal agents have routinely countered protesters using crowd control weapons and fired on people in ways that some experts say might be criminal.

Ever since getting laid off from Amtrak, I've been eagerly taking recruiter calls for geospatial jobs.

But hearing about utility companies with nuclear powerplants in their portfolios using AI as a major part of their GIS workflow makes me.... wary of joining those kinds of teams.

11/ He's pushing "too many, too soon" — 11 doses in 1986 vs. 50+ today. What he won't mention: a single 1980s whole-cell pertussis shot contained ~3,000 antigens. Today's entire schedule? ~165. More protection, 95% fewer antigens. I wrote about this - @statnews.com: www.statnews.com/2025/06/24/t...
‘Too many, too soon’? Debunking a common fear about kids’ vaccines
Despite a significant increase in injections, today's vaccines expose children to a fraction of the immune-stimulating material that previous generations encountered.

A game in which you play as the Lascaux cave paintings. All smudge and stain on rock. You scamper through the torchlit darkness, locking horns with other drawings, until you come face to face with the painter, or Picasso. It doesn't matter. You're just ink. And ink holds no regard for its audience.

It's a great word fact that English 'lord' comes from a compound meaning 'bread guard', which fused into one word: Old English hlāford.

There's evidence from Norway that the concept was an old one, as the Tune runestone (c. 400 AD) mentions the role of "witadahalaiban" – 'the one watching bread'.
