I’m not going to dunk on the person who said it b/c I think their intentions are good, but it’s important to know that the ultimate goal of gender studies is not to teach men to respect women. Gender studies is about understanding what gender is & how gender works in various contexts and cultures.
The men and women emailing with Epstein are the exact same people who believe that you shouldn’t have access to women’s and gender studies. Ask yourself why.

The way some people deploy the "it would be good if it was good" meme in response to literally any criticism makes it starkly clear that a lot of us think of "goodness" or "badness" as something that's just inherent to particular pieces of media and has nothing to do with specific writing choices.

Wrong. Completely wrong. Canada *does* need to be 'performative'. It's called leadership. Upholding democratic norms is done by vocal support and action, not going mute when things get tough out of cowardice and self preservation.
