I read about this real story, and other debunked myths, like Kitty Genovese’s lonely murder, in the @rutgerbregman.com book Humankind. It really helped me see there are many more good people out there, particularly in familiar stories from the news. Unfortunately bad stories do tend to sell better.

This is good reporting on the disaster in Alaska if you're looking for a reliable summary.

This is a bigger disaster than I think most are realizing. 1500 people have been displaced by the flooding with an exceptionally complicated response and recovery.

I had that happen and the pharmacist was so apologetic. It was giant drops running down my arm but he firmly put a cotton swab and band-aid on and it stopped.

👉DID YOU KNOW? The Telehealth Modernization Act of 2024 was voted UNANIMOUSLY BIPARTISAN out of committee (unheard of these days) in December 2024 (& previous votes were also UNANIMOUSLY BIPARTISAN).

BUT IT NEVER MADE IT TO THE FLOOR. Speaker Johnson wanted it to be held FOREVER tethered to the CR!

Obama warns us: when leaders call ordinary crime an “insurrection” and turn the military inward, it corrupts democracy at its core. Using troops against citizens is the road to authoritarian rule and a loss of our Constitutional rights. We are now standing at that very edge.

Chicago Tribune: Greeley, who was born at Illinois Masonic hospital and is adopted, carries a copy of her passport just in case she runs into federal agents.

“I am Latina and I am a service worker,” Greeley said. “I fit the description of what they’re looking for now.”

During the encounter, Greeley said they told her she “doesn’t look like” a Greeley.

“They said this isn’t real, they kept telling me I’m lying, I’m a liar,” Greeley recalled. “I told them to look in the rest of my wallet, I have my credit cards, my insurance.”
