Seriously, this does seem to be the logical endpoint a lot of ultra-rich people seem to be reaching towards. They have so much wealth they seem to feel entitled to adoration too. That not liking them or not agreeing with their opinions is somehow morally injuring them.

Talking to one of these types at a con who asked how I 'got in' with so many 'famous writers' who I'd been talking to and I said "we made friends before anyone knew who we were decades ago by striking up interesting conversations and enjoying each other's company" and he kept re-asking the question.

The confusion and conflation of ‘generative ai that is built on stolen artwork’ and ‘machine learning, character behaviour modelling and proc gen’ is intentional on the part of the grifters peddling the former. Mostly it meant you wanted to reduce the friction between people wanting your product and giving you money. However sometimes the principle of it can work to your advantage in other contexts. Fuck AI.

Sometimes I have friends who are having a bad day and I wish I could do something to alleviate it. I do what I can, but sometimes there's nothing I can do to improve it.

As @slacktivistfred.bsky.social once said, there is a relationship between bigotry and stupidity. But it's not that being stupid makes one a bigot, it's that being bigoted makes one stupid.

a lot of people's intuition is that intellectual errors lead to moral errors, and I think it is much more common that it is the other way around.
