As these numbers make clear, economic populism is wildly popular, but people hate Democrats at some point that even economic populists who run as Democrats pay a price. The solution to this is just to follow the Sanders / Mamdani playbook: run to the left and attack Democrats

It's important to add that voters are not merely interested in improving their own finances: on issue after issue they are specifically interested in curtailing the power of the rich.
