incredible how many anticapitalists' anticapitalism consists of not even believing capitalism exists
seeing news about a "memory shortage." it's not a shortage. billionaires who hate you hoarded it all so they could make everything worse and stupider and more expensive, just like with most shortages

I want to believe this happened so hard. It means we can finally use the technology in moderation roles.
I JUST HAD A DOCTOR CONSULT CANCELLED BECAUSE I WAS RUDE TO THEIR AI INTAKE SOFTWARE. (I called it a "stupid computer.") I hate EVERYTHING

“This decision is an important step toward upholding what fear tried to destroy: the right to speak for peace and justice,” as Mohsen said today.

I’m honored to call Mohsen a friend, and I can’t wait to congratulate him on the day he becomes a U.S. citizen.
BREAKING: An immigration judge has *terminated* the Trump-Vance administration's efforts to deport Columbia pro-Palestine student protestor Mohsen Mahdawi.

Mohsen was first detained 10 months ago, when agents ambushed him at a citizenship interview.

imagine if you were a vampire that lived for 100s of years but you just had a regular guy's memory. Like a normal person. "What was Venice like in the 14th century" Ahhh, I don't...I don't fucking remember. There was a guy, Vincenzo? Maybe that was the 15th century. Wait, did I live in Venice?

We now have Star Trek’s universal translators, and people hate it.
Discovered today that Instagram had turned on (without my opt-in) automatic AUDIO translation of any reel that shows up in my feed not in English USING AI TO MIMIC THE SPEAKER’S VOICE and WOW it was creepy and upsetting.

You can turn it off in “Language & Translations” in Settings. 🙅🏻‍♀️

Problem about the loneliness epidemic is, it's everywhere except in representative survey data. Let's look at where the claim comes from. 1/
Case in point, @pengzell.bsky.social just sent me 5 papers proving that there’s not actually any evidence for a loneliness epidemic. My mind is highly changed

*getting burnt as a Cathar by the church in the Albigensian crusade* this is capitalism's fault
People joke about how certain internet DMs the villain is always capitalism, but also if everyone's running characters that are plucky underdogs against the system it's kind of hard for the villain to not be capitalism.

any other option - voting republican, not voting, voting third party - is completely and totally morally unacceptable and should result in your expulsion from polite society

I genuinely have a pretty high opinion of Anthropic, I really hope they don't fold on this
"Anthropic is prepared to loosen its current terms of use, but wants to ensure its tools aren't used to spy on Americans en masse, or to develop weapons that fire with no human involvement. The Pentagon claims that's unduly restrictive..."
Exclusive: Pentagon warns Anthropic will "pay a price" as feud escalates
The Pentagon may label Anthropic a "supply chain risk," forcing all its vendors to sever ties.

god this drives me mad in the UK; hearing transphobic arguments from older liberals *that are identical to the 1990s conversation they were on the right side of*.
HELLO I WAS A QUEER TEEN IN THE 1990s AND THE ARGUMENTS AGAINST SOCIAL TRANSITION NOW ARE INDISTINGUISHABLE FROM THE ARGUMENTS AGAINST "LETTING" US BE (at the time, for me) GAY OR LESBIAN THEN.

They all rest on the belief that it's inherently better to be straight (then)/cis (now) and that's BS.
Hilary Cass here arguing for children to be prevented from being known by a preferred name or getting a haircut in case it encourages them to continue later in life to transition.

Hilary Cass acts like gender variant children should have the transness hazed out of them.

My main opinion on Graham Platner is if there was a 41 year old guy running in the Republican primary for the Maine Senate seat and it turned out that he had a Nazi tattoo for 15 years and then he claimed that he just didn't know it was a Nazi tattoo, none of you would ever stop screaming about it.
