Been meaning to do a 'hi new followers' thread for a few weeks now. I'm a feminist researcher, (loosely) in the field of politics, interested in reproductive politics, feminist debates and how feminist ideas get appropriate for reactionary ends.

The “Pathways” trial is, IMO on more than one level, a thoroughly unethical piece of “research” to be carrying out on children, especially children who are part of a marginalised minority.

They're using Utrecht to see if there's an improvement in "gender distress"

Utrecht scale due to how it is rated only shows an "improvement" if the kid stops being trans because it asks questions like "I feel bad when people address me as my assigned sex"

Remember this when you see scare headlines about the high rate of minors seeing “porn” online: They’re either not seeing it on porn sites or what they’re seeing isn’t actually porn.

It turns out minors not necessarily know what “porn” even is.

A handful of fascists turned up in Bristol again. They were outnumbered massively again.

We are the people, they are the tiny fascist minority that has our mainstream media and politicians' attention

Seeing a lot of people I frankly thought better of misunderstanding this. It means case by case re. the service provider not the individuals using the service. This is how the Equality Act has worked for years - with providers having to justify exclusion as proportionate.

While remaining a neutral party to the case, Bridget Phillipson's lawyers have told the High Court they don't think the EHRC's proposed blanket bathroom ban is the right reading of the law

Thinking about Brianna Ghey while reading this article on screen time and bullying. Labour are using her name to push for a crackdown on phone use among teens.

But this research indicates increased screen time does *not* correlate with increased bullying for trans kids - unlike their cis peers.
Developmental Effects of Screen Time on Gender Diverse Student’s Experiences of Bullying Victimization
We used a large state-wide sample of adolescent students in 8th, 10th, and 12th grades (N = 58,689) to examine the predictive value of screen time on bullying victimization, as well as its interact...
