On May 21, exactly two weeks after Taher's little boy died, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio sat before Congress and declared: "No one has died" because of his government's decision to gut its foreign aid program. Rubio also insisted: "No children are dying on my watch."
That, Taher says, "is a lie."

after reading the article, by 'woke people' she seems to mean 'decent people who provide practical help to refugees,' something she doesn't actually appear to be doing herself but whatever. yes, decent people 'have hope.' this whole article is combatting an argument that no one has ever made.
