First day of #worldwatercolormonth, "radiant." Room to grow.
A watercolor painting. A silhouette standing on a peak with one arm raised. A stylized sun made of reds, yellows, oranges, and gold over a gradient background.

Diane Keaton in her Manhattan apartment with Buster, an Abyssinian, photographed by Jill Krementz in 1977
black & white photograph of young Diane Keaton smiling and standing next to a white refrigerator in a barren-looking kitchen. her cat Buster is crouched on top of the fridge playing with/swatting her hair in the upper right hand corner. she's wearing a long skinny white scarf with a dot-grid pattern, a high-neck white blouse with an ascot/kerchief around the neck, and a black blazer/skirt or blazer dress over what looks like a vest

Just a reminder, the layoffs in govt were just done out of spite, not necessity

But that’s not what’s happening here. “RIFs” are being twisted to reorganize the government as the president wants. That’s a violation of the law, and a violation of the constitution.

And yes, private equity mass firings are bad too. We should fix that as well.

consulted for any reorganization of the government.

The govt is accountable directly to the people. No single king-like president can just remake the govt as they like. If they think there is a problem, fine: make the case to the people and to Congress and do reform.

Several people have asked variants of “mass layoffs happen in the private sector all the time, why shouldn’t this be ok for govt employees too?”

A central principle of civil service law is the president doesn’t get to remove civil servants because he disagrees with them. And Congress must be…

it actually offends me how sloppy and careless they are. anyone who’s ever been laid off knows the panic you feel when it happens. and while obviously it’s good that they backtracked, these are people’s fucking LIVELIHOODS they’re messing with.

I appreciate that Melphie is following in her mother's steps in researching using monsters as an ignored resource for her pretty barren home.

Salvation Army seen feeding ICE today. For anyone who doesn't already know about their bigotry, here is more, No need to give them your money this Christmas, or ever.

It’s dinner time for the police. Appears to be pizza from a Salvation Army van.

Broadview’s “free speech” curfew starts soon, at 6pm.

A comic about Clark Kent, Lois Lane and typos (1/3)

#Art #Comics #DCcomics #Superman #Artsky
Clark Kent walks in to an office "Lois? What are you still doing here?"
Lois Lane, seated in front of a laptop, turns around. "Wuh? Clark? Could've sworn you'd be home by now."
Clark pulls a chair to the side and looks concerningly to a stressed out and tired Lois. "You look out of it." He says.
"Ugh, I'm supposed to have this article done by tomorrow. Dyslexia's kicking my butt right now. Usually my sister proofreads my stuff before I send it to the team." Says Lois.
Lois leans her cheek against her hand in disappointment. "I haven't heard back from her all day. She's probably on an international flight and it slipped my mind." Clark asks "Why don't you ask someone at work to look it over?"
Lois pauses. She crosses her arms and looks to the side. "It's tiring y'know. You double major in English and Journalism, but still get "compliments" about how good your English is."
As Clark listens to Lois talk, the background transforms into space and stars. Lois continues; "I can't just be disabled and a writer. It's always something else."
Clark: "..."
Lois: "I don't even know why I'm telling you all this. It's not like you've ever had to deal with that."

(3/3) Thanks for reading!
Lois and Clark are now sitting close together, their elbows touching. Lois: "I could get you coffee tomorrow, as a thanks. Just name the place."
Clark responds "That won't be necessary Ms. Lane. All I want is for you to get some rest."
Lois looks smugly back at Clark. "Seriously? You sure you can handle all those typos on your own?"
Clark adjusts his glasses and winks at her. "I may not be an English major, but I was THE spelling bee champion three years in a row!"
Lois laughs! "HAH! Not bad for a kampung boy." Clark: "I still have no idea what that means."
Lois elbows his side. "You can pick it up from context, Smallville. I believe in you."
Lois leans on Clark's shoulder and shuts her eyes. Clark is surprised.
"Uhh...Lois are you just gonna-"
Lois is fast asleep: "zzzzz"
Clark blushes and smiles. He goes back to typing with Lois leaning against his shoulder. The sound of the keyboard going "tp tp tp tp tp"

I think we really should stop using antifa and just fully say anti-fascist and get them saying they are against anti fascism. Using antifa is giving them some distance and I genuinely think some of their base don’t even know that’s what it stands for.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.
