Lots of people sharing this clip because it's funny and cathartic but I also genuinely believe it's important.

We have to win the narrative battle between "I live in a corrupt society and that's just how it is" and "I live in a corrupt society and we are going to defeat and humiliate these ghouls."
Good morning to Brazilian reporter Manuela Borges, who’s been waiting eleven years for this petty moment. ❤️ 🇧🇷

They've had fifteen years to come up with alternatives to the ACA and just never bothered because they don't want an alternative, they just want tens of millions of Americans excluded from the healthcare system.
Repeal Obamacare” has failed. So now what?

— GOP is sprinting to create ACA alternatives (again)

— Economists warn Trump’s plan won’t work

— Democrats say the best, popular path is to just extend expiring ACA subsidies

At stake: millions of people’s health care

GOP plans to replace Obamacare have failed. Here’s what lawmakers propose now.
Lawmakers are racing toward a mid-December deadline, with Republicans hoping to present side-by-side legislation with Democrats’ plan to extend ACA subsidies.

Eternal Darkness. Been thinking about that game recently and lamenting my long lost copy of it.

Transformers: The Movie is a skeleton key for so much of what I find aesthetically pleasing. Led directly to my love for Power Rangers, Beast Wars (of course), Battletech, Macross, and eventually Gundam. Giant robots are my jam and this is why.

I'm tired, someone put these groceries away for me.

Main work system is down so instead everyone at the office is having loud conversations about which Thanksgiving foods suck (all of them, apparently)

Heisei Godzillas are in the bag. A really great bunch of movies. Space Godzilla is the only real dud of the bunch. Series started a little weak, but finished strong. Looking forward to the Millennium movies, then finally tackling the Monsterverse.
Godzilla: Heisei Era
Round two for Godzilla. These I've seen fewer of.

Really important to stress that the Crown Jewels of the US higher education system were never the Ivies or elite SLACs (other countries have equivalents of these) but the well-funded, large, cheap, and excellently staffed public state university systems bringing high quality education to the masses.
One of the bragging rights that the US ed system had in the 20th century is that we didn't have education tracks. Essentially, any kid could go to a CC or state school & major in whatever they wanted to (obviously an oversimplification). I fear this aspect of the American dream is dying.

If I’m understanding this correctly, X is owned by a white nationalist who pays poor people of color in developing countries to pretend to be working class white Americans to scare other white Americans into being afraid poor people of color from developing countries are going to ruin America?

I like to say that subsequent generations have looked at Enron, the housing crash, WeWork, etc. and had their primary reaction be: "whoa, fraud is a great way to make a lot of money really fast" and it works because we stopped treating it like a serious crime.
I once knew a Federal bank examiner, and one time someone asked him why we had to KEEP inspecting banks over and over. He basically said every new batch of business school grads invents bank fraud from first principles.
AirBnB CEO calling it “vibe revenue” just 👨‍🍳 😘

The underlying cause of every bubble - debt masquerading as financial innovation - depends on not just short financial memory & speculative neophytism, but reinventing jargon of finance, like how each generation of kids has new ways to say same things.

When I was in high school, I did a job shadow with a technical writer. He was a weird guy who couldn't make eye contact and made the job seem like the most boring shit in the world. Anyhow, a decade later I got a job as technical writer and I'm still doing it today.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

Getting close to being done with the Heisei Godzillas. A couple duds, but on balance really enjoyable, especially as a guy who grew up on Americanized mecha and tokusatsu content. Also, Clue in theaters was so fun!
