I think the confound here is that the rich and powerful are given a better education. Culture is for better or worse as adaptable and open to cooptation as anything else. The texts themselves provide no guarantee of my values or yours, but can be a part of the pursuit and contestation of values
there is not any particularly strong evidence that study of the humanities make people good people. the elites of many brutal empires were extremely well-read!

i came across the saying "to follow like a Tantony pig" so I get curious and look it up, but Tantony isnt a place, it's a contraction of St Anthony who is the saint of swineherds, so the proverb means to follow someone like a pig following the hog messiah. alas this information will not pay my bills

got back after almost two weeks away and bf had
- cleaned and organized the apartment thoroughly
- gone to the bakery for a selection of "welcome home" snacks
- not checked the physical mail even one single time
