This is a stunning piece of scholarship that truly presents a novel argument in a time of controversy and circular thinking
I don't know, Aaron. I think we need to take this seriously. In fact, after surveying hundreds of years of history in the past few days, I've written an article assessing the originalist case here:

Having thoughts about this is so unimportant. I care less about who is running than the condition of the country they may inherit and their plans for reconstructing our shattered systems.

Every time they murder people in boats off the coast of Venezuela I think about the fact that I learned to sail in an island nation off the coast of Venezuela.

I kind of wonder how Grenada is dealing with this shit.

I thought my Uber driver was going to deliver me to Whamhalla instead of my requested destination tonight.

Crisis averted. I did not get Whammed. I did, however, get Feliz Navidad'd.

I know several people who have articulated to me that they have pricey bottles of booze on hand for when it happens. And to be clear, they are not plotting they are simply hoping for father time to come for him.
For better or worse, public figures are judged when they die — their character, contributions, beliefs. It's undeniable that millions have mourned Rob Reiner's tragic death, celebrating his talent and contributions. I suspect when a certain public figure kicks the bucket, sentiments wont be the same

To answer it's question though: It isn't.
It's wonderful to see that Vox once again has the worst of all instincts, which in this case refusing to take "no" for an answer and baffled as to why their attitude is infuriating.

Frustrated, the judge snapped. "We're not talking about Peru anymore. This is about Honduras."

In one motion, that man's asylum claim was dead. With no opportunity to actually prove his case, and with the serious possibility that he'd be deported to Honduras - a country he's never been.

I was in a tribunal a week ago where DHS moved to pretermit every single asylum case on "safe third country grounds." Every. single. one.

At one point, a judge scheduled a second master for a man to prove he would be in danger in Honduras. Confused, he said "No, Peru. I'm from Peru."
Immigration judges are "pretermitting" huge swathes of asylum claims on the grounds that the person can be deported to a third country instead — one of the explicit statutory grounds for denying the right to apply for asylum.

This is now happening at large scale nationwide.

This is what asylum practice is increasingly looking like; the Trump admin is moving to "pretermit" every single claim (or nearly every single claim) as a move to avoid having to grant anyone asylum.

America, you've spoken loud and clear: you do not like being stabbed in the dick with an ice pick. But what if stabbing yourself in the dick with an ice pick is the only way to fight, idk, climate change or whatever?

By a vote of 76-23, S 1071 passes the motion to proceed to the motion to concur. Won't know who voted for this until the roll call is uploaded, but safe to say it passed with the support of at least 24 members of the Democratic caucus. (Rand Paul probably voted nay and Steve Daines has been absent).
