Nobody could accuse #RecipeOfTheDay of being a looker but who cares when this Burnt Onion and Aubergine/ Eggplant Dip tastes so good? (Please note: it’s a rhetorical question!) There’s a reason my last book has a chapter in it called ‘A Loving Defence of Brown Food’. www.nigella.com/recipes/burn...
Burnt Onion and Aubergine Dip
I get many requests for this decidedly brown dip of silky savouriness, the first recipe in my chapter A Loving Defence of Brown Food in Cook, Eat, Repeat, so creamy that you would never guess it’s act...

We have got to make politics intellectual again. It is the only way that societies thrive is when politicians have the capability to actually think and reflect deeply:

Highlighting the racism of Nigel Farage, as a child or adult, will only backfire. It's doing his advertising for him. His potential voters LOVE the racism.

Better to highlight that Reform will tank the economy and everyone will be skint, they'll shut down the NHS, they're controlled by Moscow, etc.

I like to put a plausibly-deniable typo in every external document I work on. I've just sent off a funding proposal with the word "sharted" instead of "shared" on p79.

My favourite sketch that never got filmed for the Russ Abbot show while I was working on it as a tiny human writer was “Russ is the waiter at the revolving restaurant at the top of the Leaning Tower of Pisa.”

That’s one hell of a pitch. Still funny. Shaun Micaleff would have pulled it off…

Hooray! The only thing apparently worth saying about comedy - that it’s being gagged - is being said once again by someone who’s done absolutely fucking fine by being allowed to do whatever comedy he wanted in an extremely friendly environment that no longer exists, for purely economic reasons.

She is so profoundly intellectually incurious that I find myself fascinated how she ever learnt how to *speak*.
Also the Romans literally had a welfare system that included cash transfers for poor children. (And subsidised grain for low income workers...).

I love the lame simplicity of radio ads.

'Really? That's great!'

'YES! THEY'RE BRILLIANT!'

'SUPER!'

Trump has said he will "permanently pause migration" to the US from all "third world countries".

First, “permanently” is not a “pause”. Secondly, “third world countries”. It’s not the 1980s, you backwards buffoon.
Trump says US will 'permanently pause migration' from 'third world countries'
The president did not name which countries would be affected, but vowed to remove anyone "not a net asset" to the US.
