Caregiver. Proofreader. Musician. Badger at the teddy bear's picnic. Antifascist, anticapitalist; but I repeat myself. I don't know if love is guaranteed going to save us, but I'm pretty sure it's the only thing that might.

To make this point even clearer, not that it should matter, but it's never just transphobia. There isn't a single transphobe alive who otherwise shares your nice views. I dare you to name a single case where that's true.
An antifascist popular front and transphobia are incompatible. A big tent that includes transphobes isn't a big tent, it's a tent with a hole in the roof.

friendly reminder

The things you believed were right yesterday are still right. They'll be right if they put you in jail. They'll be right if they shoot you. They'll still be right when these people are dead and dusted and gone.

which they will be

Bitcoin was invented 16 years ago. If crypto provided any utility beyond buying drugs online, creating a new form of gambling or indulging Libertarian anti-state fantasies, it would have broken into the mainstream by now.
Fed Kashkari still hating on crypto: "It's still basically useless for consumers. I mean, there's, there's nothing you can do with Bitcoin or a stablecoin that you can't already do with Venmo or with your traditional banking products, other than circumventing banking regulation."

What makes this even more bleak is that Jack Daniel's specifically is a brand beloved by good ol' boy dipshits that was actually built on the unacknowledged labor and expertise of Black people

UPDATE: The contest period is over. Fingers crossed tight
I enter a lot of instrument-giveaway contests, and mostly I don't share them here, but this one is so gloriously odd I will break my rule. Ladies and mens and my nonbinary friends, I give you the GoldTone E8T electric banjo.

I am not a 'sacrosanct is the sweat of your brow' guy but I do think the reason so many of the elites look to Online as a solution to problems (crypto, AI, surveillance tech, etc.) is because it doesn't require them to go anywhere or do anything or be around other people generally

The Right is correct about one thing: America *does* need a moral renewal -- even, arguably, a rededication to Christian values. But they're dead wrong about what those morals and values actually are.

"transgender ideology" doesn't turn kids transgender. The unicorn in human form crying out "I can feel this body dying all around me!" in the Rankin-Bass animated adaptation of THE LAST UNICORN turns kids transgender. know the difference.
"transgender ideology" doesn't turn kids transgender. Sitting in the final hours of Day 3 of Majora’s Mask, after failing to save the sun’s mask for Kafei, and letting Koji Kondo’s impossibly beautiful lament wash over you turns kids transgender. know the difference.
"transgender ideology" doesn't turn kids transgender. unlocking Paine's special dressphere Full Throttle in Final Fantasy X-2 turns kids transgender. know the difference.

For those in the comment saying this could never happen: I've had it happen to me (albeit not in the Wall Street Journal). Open editorial streams are a thing, and some people cannot resist the temptation to stick their oar in.
I wrote book reviews for a while for the WSJ well over a decade ago, and Bari Weis was my editor. One of her special tricks was to try to insert a sharp rightward slant into my essays *after* it had been copy edited, as a way of slipping her viewpoint in at the last minute.

Literally the last character you would think of but James Bond blurting out "Are you alright??" to Vesper after being shocked back to life in Casino Royale

Gets at something interesting about the character which is that he's an utter bastard but has a reflexive instinct to help in some ways
This is a favorite question to ask. Favorite little moment of kindness in a movie? I'm thinking of Tim Blake Nelson leaving money on the sill after they steal a pie in O Brother.

Back in the news
In 2021, I wrote at the Bad Site re: Rush Limbaugh: "It's almost impressive to watch this man, laboring under the certain knowledge of his own impending death, not only showing no interest in rehabilitating his own reputation before the end but actually doubling down on his intrinsic loathsomeness"
