I just got a call from my loan officer that because I had to spend my down payment on rent, I may no longer qualify for my mortgage loan

You should never look at the numbers, of course, but I'm happy to see that these mixes are doing (modest) numbers -- not only the latest mixtape, but the archives, too. I'm especially pleased that my imaginary soundtrack to SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES is getting some love. I'm proud of that one.

This is the tip of the spear. As many others have warned, we're not just looking at higher prices: Many products -- common things -- will become functionally unavailable at any price. eBay may function as a sort of black market for a while, but the margins will make that unsustainable.

MY TARIFF STORY: Went to three stores yesterday looking for salted codfish for a recipe I've been making for years, only to find empty shelves.

A one-pound box used to cost about $15. The few online specialty shops still listing it run $45 + shipping.
