Of course Josh announced this while I was in a meeting.

I’m thrilled he’s running and happy to be supporting him!
There's a lot going on right now, from the federal occupation by ICE, to elections for public office up and down the ballot. But if you're the kind of person who also cares about the weird nerds who run for party office, I have an announcement - I'm running for CD5 DFL Chair.🧵

so many people were okay with letting Israel bomb children om Gaza in the name of defense and now we have ICE detaining schoolbusses full of children.

so many of you failed and continue to fail the litmus test. what we allow to be done to others will inevitably come back on us.

This action was a step in the right direction, but not as strong as I hoped. I support all MPRB workers who use Friday as a day off and a day of safety and action as they desire. I believe the park system should be closed and they deserve to be paid for their scheduled hours.
commissioner jason garcia asks for the minneapolis parks and recreation board buildings be closed on friday jan 23 to observe the ICE out strike happening in minnesota. describes what has been happening in parks, including tear gas deployed by mueller park today

It’s day 51 of the ICE occupation of MSP.

Everywhere we look, there are helpers.

People standing guard on street corners and pouring out of homes and businesses when we hear whistles. People shopping for families stuck at home. People stepping up to be leaders in mutual aid networks.

🧵ICE's tactics for arresting and holding observers and protestors is ever-shifting, and I'm hearing lots of different stories. Right now, my perspective is that these are your best practices:

Costeñito Taqueria that parks on Bloomington, between 41st and 42nd, has, in my humble lived-in-Mexico-for-a-couple-years opinion, probably the best carnitas in Minneapolis. And, they are hanging in there right in the hot zone! Highly recommended!!

After gassing a crowd, federal agents left a rifle magazine behind at Mueller Park. Crowd standing by, calling 911 for police to come retrieve it.

Gas now being deployed at Mueller Park on 25th and Bryant Avenue in the Wedge (Minneapolis), maybe a mile away from the below incident. ICE now driving all over Whittier/Uptown and gassing people
ICE letting off tear gas at 29th and Blaisdell in Whittier (Minneapolis), convoy of agents, several people appear hurt by gas. Car left abandoned in the street

Good to see approval so high but also I want to say for the hundredth time that what gets covered in the media as "protests" in the Twin Cities is very often "people going about their day and then running to help when they see federal agents trying to kidnap their neighbors"
Approval For Anti-ICE Protests:

Approve: 47%
Disapprove: 44%

That’s a lot of places on strike.
Very telling that the resistance is overwhelmingly being put up by the service industry. Where are the white collar workers?

TONIGHT, at 5pm, at the Famous Dave's in Minnetonka, MN, she is hosting a kickoff party.

With that information, I encourage people to ask her about the HCSO's relationship with ICE and enforcing trespass orders against them. I encourage peaceful demonstrations.

Fuck ICE and their collaborators.

Call to Action:

Sheriff Dawanna Witt is seeking re-election in Hennepin County. She and her deputies have been refusing to enforce trespass orders from HCMC. Their treatment of protesters at Whipple has been shameful, making it harder for people released to get through safely.

As we in Minneapolis struggle with this unlawful, invading force… I ask all of you consider the parallels to your local law enforcement and the Black community often describes their interactions.
I am not exaggerating when I say ICE functions as a terrorist organization in the Twin Cities. The goal seems to be to harass and frighten people (the ones who are lucky enough to not be abducted, at least) and it's deeply unsettling when you learn they're in your neighborhood.

there are no reports from people who actually live here and who actually responded to the scene that anyone was taken

please stop sharing unverified information that was passed onto you when you don’t even live here to verify it, this shit isn’t helping us

I wrote about how concentration camp regimes evolve and why it's not too late to stop this, even though we are deep in it now.

The correct response to Dachau was not better training for the guards.
