It's really bleak because stuff like ESLint and TypeScript are basically the necessary guardrails for Claude Code/Cursor/etc to produce production ready code and they're begging for $10k handouts from fucking Google
A big thank you to Google Chrome for the $10,000 donation. We really appreciate it. 🙏

Like how do you write a really production grade JS application without ESLint? Trick question: you don't.

Cancel your Spotify subscription.
In April 2024, Spotify implemented a new scheme: songs with less than 1k streams per year would no longer receive royalties.

The data for 2025 was just released via Luminate, and 88% of songs have been demonetized.

Read it again: 88% of songs on Spotify have been demonetized.

Signal’s encryption is good. That encryption does not prevent people who aren’t friendly from listening to you when you don’t know who you’re talking to. Use common sense and don’t say anything to 1000 strangers you wouldn’t want read out loud by a right wing rag or in a court of law

The amount of effort to bully one person is mind boggling.
On my way to the Supreme Court where I'll be proud to support 15-year-old Becky Pepper-Jackson, West Virginia's only transgender athlete, as she opposes the state's effort to ban her from playing as herself.

Win or lose, Becky and her family are heroes for standing up for what's right

This is true and I was the only one on set excited about it (and playing the song on my phone to blank stares)
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

The Atlantic has updated their article to correct some of Frum's mistakes. However they didn't correct his denialist stuff. I work 50 meters from a lab where they recently identified a body recovered from a GPR search. A child who died at residential school, and was finally returned to their family.

Related: If you like anime, whether you realize it or not, you've probably marveled at an "Itano Circus;" an action scene featuring aerial combat, with loads of skittering projectiles chasing a target.

This was developed by Ichirō Itano. Watch a compilation here.

The thing I’ve noticed about men attempting to be allies is they still often don’t take other men’s bad behavior seriously enough. The boyfriend in this video will escalate to hitting her, not just hitting things, and potentially to killing her.

I used to host an extremely weird nightly show called ZeD and I 💯 agree with this post.
I think if Canada wants to have a strong cultural identity we need to go back to doing what we're best at, making the weirdest fucking TV shows you've ever seen

Oh but that would cost money I guess.

I will scream an ear off about the tyranny of bloodless, joyless, rote hyperrealism for HOURS
“THE NON-ARTIST FIXATION ON HYPERREALISM AS THE PINNACLE OF ART IS CLEARLY PART OF THE REASON SO MANY ADULTS THINK THEY CANNOT DRAW OR CONSIDER THEMSELVES TO BE FAILURES, KAWAII, FOLK ART, DOODLES, OR OTHER EASIER ENTRY POINTS ARE CONSIDERED CHILDISH, WHICH IS WHY JAPANESE DRAWING BOOKS ARE BETTER…”

Please do as shaun says, but not before reporting the account for spreading disinfo.

genAI is so good nowadays that we're all gonna get got eventually, but being told/shown over and over that you're disseminating a lie, and just ignoring people who point it out, is a serious red flag.

PLEASE DON'T POST SCREENSHOTS OF YOUR RESULTS.

They include descriptions of the samples as well as whether they're human or AI, which means you're giving away the answers to people who haven't taken the test yet.

I got 2/3 wrong (identifies human as ai, and ai as human), but the one i liked most i correctly identified as human. So that's good i guess?
Hey all, I'm trying to get a baseline for how good people are at detecting whether fiction is AI-generated or human-written (most of the research on this is for nonfiction and my hypothesis is we're better with fiction).

If you have time, give it a try?
