The CSU/OpenAI contract is set to expire June 30, 2026.

Sign this petition: https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/cancel-chatgpt-edu-invest-in-humans/ for the CSU NOT to renew the contract and to use the savings to protect jobs at CSU campuses facing layoffs.

IANAL but as a data librarian who researches data practices…limiting this to just what we’ve seen in big gov data providers (like NOAA, NIH, etc) over past year makes me really wonder what we’re going to have to do to rebuild a trusted data workflow and infrastructure again.
I’ve been thinking about “what after?” (As someone who studies administrative law from time to time, it’s inevitable given the evisceration).

I really don’t think we can do a re-set without a new constitutional convention. We need new norms, a new founding myth - new *trust.*

“We’re going to create a database” feels like “putting a bird on it.”

If Portlandia were a show about inept fascists.
TOM HOMAN: “We’re going to create a database where those people that are arrested for interference, impeding and assault, we’re going to make them famous. We’re going to put their face on TV. We’re going to let their employers, in their neighborhoods, in their schools, know who these people are.”

With a couple of new hires, my library workplace finally has enough crafty folks to make the lunchtime Fiber Arts Circle a reality.

I’m going to to sit next to the crochet gurus on Wednesday so someone can finally show me how to do the Magic Ring start.
I decided to start a pair of socks in the interests of anti-scrolling. This morning, I opened the bin of variegated yarn and pulled out the first skein of sockweight that I saw.

Which one though? Owned by which government entity and considered IP of which IT contractor?

Dismantling a database is an almost impossible thing to verify. And we’ve decimated a lot of our skilled data workforce at the federal level.
So which politician is calling for the dismantling of the probably illegal database that ice & this government is collecting biometric data of protesters?

I don’t want to hear anything from an elected official unless it’s a plan to defund the DHS and impeach Noem, Bovino, etc. No texts. No emails. No talk about the economy. Step up or step off.

At the end of the day, the Black Lives Matter era was about whether people should be killed in the street, and lots of people decided yeah and put those little blue flags on their cars. It spread to everyone because it stopped for no one.

Newly unsealed evidence makes it even clearer that Rubio and Noem knew they were targeting students based solely on their political speech and that they knew this policy was unconstitutional. They just didn’t care. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/22/u...

This is a shameful move that puts both Americans and people all over the world at greater risk from disease outbreaks, which require international collaboration to contain.

This is pure, unabashed bigotry.

If a politician said this about any other faith, they would rightfully be run out of their party.

But this kind of despicable anti-Muslim rhetoric is so normalized that a sitting Senator uses it without consequence.

A stain on our Congress.
