You ever just sit down and realize that the rise of 21st century fascism is capital's answer to climate change?

This seems like a good time to note that Proton Mail is doing a Black Friday sale right now
If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

Both my parents and my wife’s parents have (or had) dementia and I really don’t recommend it

when I was young, i used to wonder how people like this would fare in life, as they didn't seem suited for gainful employment. it turns out, the internet allowed them to accumulate a massive audience of similar idiots, enriching them and turning them into a presidential advisor

My wife is trying to explain the plot of Rashômon and I keep telling her that's not how I remember it

No they do, the showrunner is just a gibbon with cognitive decline
I can no longer follow the plot of this show. I suspect the writers and actors can’t either. I don’t think they have a show runner.

Remember when the internet was good? Pepperidge Farm remembers
“The [online] platforms that appear to serve users hungry for information—and did serve them, at first—now go to extreme lengths to seize attention.” —James Gleick

What do all the Pluribus hive mind bodies do all day? Do they talk to themselves? Do different bodies care what jobs they get?

Someone is walking around the office whistling like Darryl Hannah in Kill Bill.

Probably fine

The premise of Pluribus is giving me Leech by @hironennes.bsky.social vibes (you should read it!)

Disappointed Tor didn't use my review of Leech on the cover.

I don't think you're allowed to make this argument unless you're wearing a fedora and a predatory goatee
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

Is this a safe space to admit that I could barely parse Wuthering Heights on, like, a narrative level? Why was it told as a series of nested flashbacks by a character who barely mattered to the plot?

Anyway this looks ridiculous youtu.be/3fLCdIYShEQ

along with the heinous literal crimes i think a lot about how there's a kind of moral, national crime in subjecting all of us to this, to this consuming our politics, committed against us by a number of powerful and connected people up to and including the president

Jim Spanfeller once brought Wolff in to talk to the GMG staff and it was honestly one of his worst ever failures to read the room, which is saying something
Aside from every other repulsive thing about these Epstein emails, they offer direct confirmation of Michael Wolff as one of the sketchiest creeps in a teeming universe of gross behavior
