I suspect there are a lot of House Democrats in their 70s or 80s who think they're going to coast back into a comfortable leadership position by keeping their head down and riding the blue wave, but they're going to have to navigate these kinds of challenges first and most are not ready at all.
“I would rather you vote for what is morally correct,” Davidson said.

“Don’t talk to me about my own morality,” DeLauro shot back.

“Don’t tell your constituents what they can and can’t talk to you about,” replied Rev. Nathan Empsall. “What you are voting for is not moral.”

I can’t recommend this book enough, and the part about the National Prayer Breakfast was especially fascinating. Since 2015, I’ve sent (at least) seven copies as gifts (which may or may not have always been welcome). You gotta read it!

Unrelated to everything — but relevant to everything — this map is worth spending some time examining and thinking about. We know so little of our own history — and this wasn't that long ago.

Your grandparents' grandparents' grandparents were likely born around the time of this map.

I love the US. But if I were not American, I would not set foot in the US now.

As long as Stephen Miller is in power, the US cannot plausibly host international sporting events. (And all the *foreigners* they would bring.)
The Montreal Canadiens are playing the Minnesota Wild in Minneapolis tonight. The players have been recommended to stay in/eat at the hotel, take the team bus to the arena, and carry passports.

Perhaps we shouldn't be hosting the World Cup and the Olympics...

Right now, Democrats have the power to defund and abolish ICE. We should do it. This is about right and wrong—and the murder we are seeing on the streets is just plain wrong. Anyone who supports funding DHS and ICE is supporting the murder of Americans. We can stop this.
