On this day in 1759, 267 years ago, the radical abolitionist Benjamin Lay passed away at age 77. A hundred years before William Lloyd Garrison, Lay called for the immediate and complete abolition of slavery worldwide, with no payments to enslavers. Let us remember him. Art by Marco Lorenzetti.

Just a quick message to L.A., take a breather, enjoy the Superbowl cautiously, be ready for whatever Tom Homan is planning with CBPxICE integration.

I've seen them bottom out and win the Super Bowl a few years later twice in the last decade.
There’s not another fan base in the league that could have DeJean, Quinyon, Carter, Bain, Smith, Hunt, Ojomo, Campbell, and probably Dean all entering their prime and debating about a window closing

The troll yesterday doing the “art is classist and gatekeeping to the poor” bit worked on me, I’ve been irked for over a day now.

I grew up poor - art was something I could do, music/drawing/writing with whatever was laying around the house. Not only was it something to do, it helped me cope.

I thought this was the same Wasserman - he also owned (and killed off) the Arena Football League’s Los Angeles Avengers, who played in Staples Arena.

OFC he’s in the Epstein files too.

The journalism industry news is heartbreaking today, as it often is. So it was nice to get this piece of good news for PA journalists in my inbox. Waxman is himself a former journalist.

Now to see if the Republican-majority PA Senate approves. I will not hold my breath.

This book is incredibly fun, highly recommend it!
If you need a revenge novel for Black History Month, I’ve got you.
So I guess I’m gonna be one of those #booksky people who publicly discusses the books I read, but honestly I think it’s important. This month was hell and these books helped.
Especially this one by @kashana.blacksky.app We can’t all go out and get our revenge, but we can read about people to do.

Needed to see this today. Finally tried creative writing again last night, realized I’m so exhausted after work (due to chronic illness) there’s almost nothing left.

Happy Groundhog Day! I am a fan of the absurdity of weather prognosticating rodents and celebrate Groundhog Day with my thermochromic linocut. The shadow is visible if the ambient temperature is <30°C and disappears when >30°C (and it’s a safe bet winter is over or you are overheating your home). 🧵
