Socialists in Cox Cities.
Apparently, the newly-elected mayor of Dayton, OH is a Dem Socialist though her campaign wasn't officially endorsed by the DSA. Dayton is where Cox Ent. began in 1898.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's new offices are in District 2 which DSA candidate Kelsea Bond won.

If Kemp’s not willing to use GA’s 14.6 billion surplus (9 bil is undesignated and 5.6 bil is a rainy day fund) to help fund SNAP, what the hell is he going to use it for?? I can’t think of anything more important than keeping people from starving.

Several questions unanswered in Georgia response to SNAP funding lapse
Gov. Brian Kemp has signaled the state won't be dipping into surplus funds to fill SNAP gaps.

This is from Autocracy, Inc, about how modern autocratic propaganda works.

I consider this every time I decide what to share and how to frame it.

Here in Atlanta yesterday, more than 2,000 people waited in their cars—one woman for 14 hours—for a box of food. The giveaway ended early; there wasn't enough to go around.

Multiply this scene by countless others across the country, and you get a sense of how crushing the desperation is right now.

🚨NEW: Everyone in Georgia is supposed to have an equal voice, but an outdated US Census Bureau policy counts incarcerated people in the wrong place, giving a few residents a megaphone – aka prison gerrymandering

The state can fix this. Here's how👇

Track record Exhibit A: Andre pours $58m (and counting) of TAD money into rat-infested, obsolete 2 Peachtree tower to convert to affordable homes. Now begging MARTA to move into it.

Extending TAD slush funds means hiking taxes, because that money would otherwise return to schools, county & city.
The track record is one of the biggest arguments against TAD extensions. Many projects were advanced recklessly at extraordinary cost with marginal benefit, and of course Dickens’s habit of canceling or downgrading widely popular transit projects undermines public trust in ANY future agenda.
This TAD extension will allegedly protect legacy residents, build affordable housing, put rail on the Beltline, build a new hospital, and support small businesses. That's quite a project list.

It makes me wonder...what's Mayor Dickens' track record with following through on project lists?

Amazon is helping fund a $300 million build of a ballroom for the White House.

Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.

They are not the same.

I wonder how much money has been spent on fighting public healthcare.

And how much healthcare that could have provided.

SNAP isn't about "people who don't work." It's about people who don't get paid enough to live.

Of the 40 or so million people who rely on food stamps:

* Two-thirds are children, seniors, or disabled

* Most working-age adults who receive SNAP are employed—but in jobs that pay poverty wages

He did high school in Gwinnett. The scandal of it! Clearly disqualifies him, right?
What really burns them is that he says 155k signatures on the Cop City referendum petition should not have been thrown in the trash to placate the donor class.

Going to try and early vote for @rohitforatlanta.bsky.social this weekend.

I was going to vote for him regardless, but the disgusting, bigoted campaign run by his opponent has served to make me even more confident in my choice.

If you live in the area, check out the endorsements and be sure to VOTE 🗳️

We need more YIMBYs in leadership, so it's important that we show up to the polls 🫡

Got a notification from Georgia Access, insurance premiums going up to $842 a month. On top of that they claim that my self employment income of $30K a year doesn't meet the requirement to get APTC.

Make no mistake, Republicans, especially the Southern ones, want you dead.
