People are spontaneously posting up near any laborers or street vendors they spot. Just saw a rapid responder guarding a man working on a building exterior. Many things are terrible today but lord, this stuff matters.

There are a tremendous number of ICE watchers out in Rogers Park this afternoon after some early morning abductions.

People are guarding churches and patrolling alleyways. Ran into Alderperson Hadden. First timers tell us they're primed and ready to use their whistles.

If you are employed & doing pretty fine right now, set aside some money from each paycheck to dedicate to mutual aid asks. Even just $20.

Shit is really bad, the social safety net is being shredded, & truly TRULY all we have is each other right now.

Writing something about ICE and sweet Jesus it is so incredibly dark what they are doing to these cities. We have all seen the videos, but when you wade into the details of their actions, it is extraordinarily bleak.

I requested email records from the LA Mayor’s office regarding journalist detainments, arrests, and assaults during the two weeks of protests anti-ICE protests in June. Only one email was released and it was from @adamrose.bsky.social. Are we really to believe her office has one email about it?
Email titled: Fwd: URGENT: LAPD holding journalist in jail for up to a week

Sent to the Mayor’s office and LAPD officers

Email says:

Anthony Orendorff is an independent filmmaker currently in LAPD custody in Van Nuys.
I'm in contact with his sister, who informs me that the Public Defender's office says he may be held for up to a week.
However, there is clearly a dispute about the situation. I cannot say with certainty until I find video, and I ask you to seek BWV immediately (today) and act to ensure this is handled appropriately -- including the potential of expedited release this afternoon.
Orendorff was arrested at an active ICE raid at a Costco parking lot in Pacoima yesterday (Thursday, June 19). According to his sister: "LAPD was called to do crowd control and singled him out. There were tons of witnesses who saw what happened. He didn't touch any officer. He was lunged at by one officer in particular and arrested, and charged with battery."
PIO confirms to me that the charge is a misdemeanor PC 243(b) for battery on a police officer.
Unfortunately, LAPD officers have proven themselves extremely unreliable over the past two weeks - and frankly last several years. The description by Orendorff's sister would be consistent with many recent examples of false and misleading statements used to "justify" unlawful detainment and arrest of journalists. As a separate matter, I have reviewed the footage of the incident with ABC News chief national correspondent Matt Gutman including the preceding incident. In the Gutman case, an officer assaulted Gutman by grabbing him from behind and shoving him. Gutman's arm lifted slightly for balance, clearly a natural reflex, but he controlled himself and did not lay hands on the officer.
Subsequently, an unhinged officer screamed at Gutman about "touching" an officer and shoved Gutman for no reason. As video proves, Gutman was the victim of assault by an LAPD officer, and then LAPD attempted to blame the victim.

Worked a wedding last night where a third of the people didn’t show up because they were afraid of ICE.

All I know is that I have followed her for a long time, was able to reply at first and then a couple hours later was not able to reply. Maybe she turned replies back on by the time Marisa replied. Or maybe Marisa was able to reply bc Jenn followed Marisa.
lauraleeactor.bsky.social
She turned off all replies by yesterday evening. I was a follower and had replied to the post earlier in the day, and then last night when I went to see if she had deleted it, she still had it up, but I (a follower) could no longer reply. Currently her whole account is inactivated.
lauraleeactor.bsky.social
Yeah. I gave her the benefit of the doubt until after several hours she ignored everyone’s pleas to delete due to AI misinformation. Then she turned off replies. At that point I unfollowed - because now I can’t trust what she shares. Disappointing and sad.

Whoa, Judge Perry says the Feds’ declarations about unrest at ICE facilities are not credible because some of the incidents they cite in their declarations were separately no-billed by grand juries
The Court therefore must make a credibility assessment as to which version of the facts
should be believed. While the Court does not doubt that there have been acts of vandalism, civil
disobedience, and even assaults on federal agents, the Court cannot conclude that Defendants' declarations are reliable. Two of Defendants' declarations refer to arrests made on September 27,
2025 of individuals who were carrying weapons and assaulting federal agents. See Doc. 62-2 at
19; Doc. 62-4 at 5. But neither declaration discloses that federal grand juries have refused to
return an indictment against at least three of those individuals, which equates to a finding of a lack of probable cause that any crime occurred. See United States v. Ray Collins and Jocelyne Robledo, 25-cr-608, Doc. 26 (N.D. Ill. Oct. 7, 2025); United States v. Paul Ivery, 25-cr-609

Oh noooooo!

After a jury found Greg Bovino to be full of shit in LA, a judge found him to be full of shitshow in Chicago.

[This is Judge April Perry's opinion on her TRO.]

storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
This indicates to the Court both bias and lack of objectivity. The lens through which we view the
world changes our perception of the events around us. Law enforcement officers who go into an
event expecting “a shitshow” are much more likely to experience one than those who go into the
event prepared to de-escalate it. Ultimately, this Court must conclude that Defendants’
declarants’ perceptions are not reliable.6

UPDATE: In emailed statement to me / @reason.com, DHS alleges that WGN-TV producer Debbie Brockman "threw objects at Border Patrol’s car and she was placed under arrest for assault on a federal law enforcement officer."
Screencap of email from DHS public affairs: Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin:

“U.S. Border Patrol was conducting immigration enforcement operations and when several violent agitators used their vehicles to block in agents in an effort to impede and assault federal officers. In fear of public safety and of law enforcement, officers used their service vehicle to strike a suspect’s vehicle and create an opening. As agents were driving, Deborah Brockman, a U.S. citizen, threw objects at Border Patrol’s car and she was placed under arrest for assault on a federal law enforcement officer.

“This incident is not isolated and reflects a growing and dangerous trend of illegal aliens violently resisting arrest and agitators and criminals ramming cars into our law enforcement officers. These attacks highlight the dangers our law enforcement officers face daily—all while receiving no pay thanks to the Democrats’ government shutdown.”

Pretty insane stuff from DHS Acting General Counsel Joseph Mazzara:

www.thehandbasket.co/p/dhs-fps-me...
Accordingly, if an individual across the street from a federal building throws a rock or bottle at FPS officers on federal property, as many of these rioters are wont to do, FPS can leave federal property and either arrest the malefactors or take other appropriate action in line with FPS's continuum of force policies. FPS could even enter a private residence containing an identified sniper blocks away from a federal facility in order to eliminate that exigent threat. There is simply no legal barrier to FPS taking action off federal property where a reasonable nexus to protecting that property exists.
