Time to catch up on everything and who's migrated over today.

Hi, I'm LeafStranger, I cosplay angry redheads and characters for whom it'd make sense to hand out cookies, and sometimes there's crossover. Most of my posts will be of my pets, or of baking adventures.

It's almost done! Just a bit more foliage and arrangement of the existing vines, and the lighting!

Alisaie is so pleased.

As I keep saying about folks trying to defend supporting JK Rowling through Harry Potter: "Fucking Skill Issue."

So many of us in the anime and manga fandom dropped Rurouni Kenshin like it was hot garbage when it came out that the creator was a pedophile, and that was 100% formative for many of us.
Someone defending their ability to love Harry Potter without supporting JK Rowling saying “if Toriyama was on the Epstein list, people could still love Dragon Ball”

1) that’s a hell of a hypothetical to suggest

2) based on how people reacted to Neil Gaiman this last year, I don’t know if I agree.

This.
If you have ADHD and have trouble getting to sleep, try drinking a stimulant like coffee before bed.

The idea is you stimulate the brain out of deficit, so instead of it trying to manufacture dopamine, it can rest.
I took stimulants, drank a coffee, and had an energy drink so now it's time to pass out because ADHD is A TRIP.

The cutest girls are, as expected, the main climbers in the household. Forgot to bring one of the machine screws with me to find duplicates for the other hexagon shelf, so work is stalled until tomorrow.

We're about 2/3rds done with this. I can't find the bolts for the other hex shelf, so it's in pieces nearby, but the main shelf has been stained and mounted, and one route up and down set up.

Since I have a lot of cosplay and sewist friends here... I could use some sanity checking on something not cosplay related.
Cat shows use standard sized shelters at the benches where cats go between rings. The most common is from Sturdi. The single is the footprint for all others (double triple).

If you are making costumes specifically my most recommended book is the Costume Technicians handbook. lt looks like it is out of print but I did find it on used sites or on the internet archive

If you are looking into learning how to sew or just always find you go to the internet to look up how to do something I recommend getting a basic sewing book too to have as a reference. I like the Vogue sewing book but the Reader's digest is good too.

I need to paint the job icons so they stand out a bit, but these are fun dice for when you can't decide what to play in FFXIV.

(They're 3d printed so probably aren't perfect but they don't need to be.)

The tiniest kazoo.
Have I shared a video showing what Dawni SOUNDS like?

Her meow is so damn cute, but also so very unique! My tiny musical instrument!

Gaia has a kitty cold so is in the cat room where I can run a space heater and humidifier at higher levels than I keep the rest of the house.

Note: she's absolutely fine, it's just a typical minor upper respiratory infection, but this gives her relief from very mild symptoms and keeps others safer.

I wish I had spare funds atm because I really want to commission someone to create art of Ryne and Gaia holding their opposite namesakes, Gaia-cat and @soltysketches.bsky.social's Ryne.
I should also get updated photos of her wearing this bib and the fancy collar since these were when she was ~10lb.

Started out aiming towards vet med, realized I didn't have the mental fortitude to do it, re-aimed towards tech writing due to science background, found I liked solving problems for people and shifted to Product Management. Might go back to tech writing to avoid having to do work on GenAI.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

Yes! This is so important! Machine Learning is doing wonderful things like mapping Martian craters and analyzing microbe genomes. LLMs are a very specific form & it’s them doing these huge amounts of harm. I also sometimes say “Gen AI”
when I mean both LLMs and art generators; I try to never say AI
Journalist challenge: Use “Machine Learning” when you mean machine learning and “LLM” when you mean LLM. Ditch “AI” as a catch-all term, it’s not useful for readers and it helps companies trying to confuse the public by obscuring the roles played by different technologies. 🧪
