'Warmth is for Sorry! This is not a hug. This is a chess clock in a stranger’s living room telling you your parents are getting divorced. The invitation is “Are you smart enough to sit at this table?”'

As a childhood fan of this game, this is pure gold.

You may be familiar with Georges Seurat's colorful paintings, but have you ever seen his darker work with Conté crayon?

THREAD.

3 years ago, with no warning, a brilliant orange farm cat wandered over from the draughty barn where he had been living, in rural Cornwall, and decided he wanted to live with us instead.

We decided to call him Jim.

This is the first photo I took of him, on that night: December 1st, 2022.

The overlap between these two maps is fascinating. Almost as if... dare I say it... Clean energy = cheap energy?
Here's the average carbon intensity for the US over the past 12 months. There aren't too many clear correlations, but these stand out:
1. Missouri, what the heck is up with you?
2. Renewables in CA and TX aren't causing price increases.
3. TVA seems unbothered.

I'm so excited about finally getting my crafting table set up. It's an IKEA Norden folding table, and attached are workbench casters. The casters can be raised and lowered so the table either moves or stands firmly and doesn't interfere with the extra fold out legs. And drawers for supplies!

a big runoff last night, in New Orleans:

Calvin Duncan was exonerated after spending *28 years* in prison; he tried to get his own case records from the New Orleans city clerk—but the office dragged its feet.

So Duncan ran to become city clerk himself, and yesterday ousted the incumbent.

Bluesky has turned on a whole bunch of moderation settings by default, it's worth checking and seeing if it's actually what you want filtered from your feed.
If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.
