Asking Isaac Bashevis Singer about the Superbowl is absurd on its face, & the Times is just kvelling in that.
In 1979, the Superbowl was not a national holiday. Baseball was the national sport, the one you could tell who was a spy if they didn't know the rules.
Some chance that Singer knew baseball
I love this because he's not being contemptuous or anything, just a befuddled old man who doesn't know what you're talking about and doesn't care to know (which is my own attitude to 99.9% of all things).
In 1979, the “New York Times” asked Isaac Bashevis Singer if he planned to watch the Super Bowl.

How can Bezos afford reporters if he needs to pour bazillions into AI?

God do I hate that while the Melania vanity documentary produced by Melania will be coming to Amazon Prime, Becoming, the Michelle Obama vanity doc produced by the Obamas is on Netflix.
Just cut the shit, if a doc is produced by the subject of the doc, it's not a documentary, it's a commercial.

Driving south on 280 back from SF to Palo Alto one night I suddenly saw a wall in front of me across the highway. I knew it couldn't be there, but I had to drive right through it with my heart in my mouth.

I think DeSantis is thinking of the brutality that means Dersh can't get a pierogi there.
I actually remember when they shipped some refugees to Martha’s Vineyard to own the libs and the Vineyarders banded together to care for them. I guess Ron forgot what happened there.
A friend who’s still on twitter noticed these recent posts. WHAT is up

While this is usually true, it becomes different after a conviction for underage prostitution usage. (Which should not have been a thing, child rape is what he did.)
AFTER such a conviction, your association with the convict should be totally different.
I feel like someone’s gotta say something, so I guess it’s going to be me. I’m 100% certain that I either know, have met, or have sought meetings with people who have done horrible things in their lives, too. How about y’all? Association is not causation, and it's not guilt — of anything. (1/8)

The whole fucking point is to accept personal risk as yourself and dare the state to do anything about it.

You are there to be seen, known, and heard. Not to cosplay as an antifa super soldier.
If you've given biometrics to TSA (Pre-Check and Global Entry members) and you plan to attend a protest, you should wear a medical mask.

We need wider bridges, more lanes, more highways to deal with congestion, how can we afford public transportation?
It is quite annoying that all the reporting on CA oil refinery closings don't mention that if we had decent public transportation in the state demand would go down. Instead, it's all- what will the state do????

This year the question is if a groundhog comes out and sees a protest, it'll be a good year.

He certainly can't testify in the court case, so he's leaving.
Has nothing to do with when ICE and CBP leave.
He left Chicago in the fall, but they never left.
Border Patrol Cmdr. Greg Bovino is expected to leave Minneapolis on Tuesday, CNN reported.

Just looked at before and after of the Lincoln bathroom, and I gotta say, if you don't like how old houses look, don't live in an old house!

ICE and CPB are not the SS, yet. The SS shot people in the street and kept on walking, secure in the knowledge that no one would do anything about it. They didn't hide it. They didn't defend it.
But ICE & CPB are starting on the road in that direction, and the time to stop them is now.

I genuinely don't know what happened to the crunchy granola leftists that were anti-vax and the bane of northern California schools. Did those folks go MAGA? Did they go up in smoke? Are they RFK Jr followers now?
They were a large part of rolling back the requirements which happened in blue states.
I love it when people ask questions like this to try to trap people. We had a whole bunch of requirements that moved people to vaccinate their children and they've been slowly dismantled by kooks! You don't need to vaccinate at gunpoint, just bring back the requirements!
So you think kids should be vaccinated at gunpoint against their parents’ wishes or removed from the home?

That Penelope lopes along in penny loafers.
do you ever pronounce the name penelope in the same way as you’d pronounce jackalope?

For my cat, every way to get to her food bowl lies across my lap, no matter where I sit or if the dog is on my lap or not. Sometimes she gingerly walks around the dog on my lap, sometimes right over the dog.

The Daily (NYT) is going to explain to me what the situation in Greenland negotiations is, and if they can do that, they deserve a Pulitzer.

Maybe not the UTMOST respect . . .
I have the utmost respect for Senator Kaine and Senator Warner but we do not need “coaching” on redistricting coming from a cuck chair in the corner. How about you all stay focused on the fascist in the White House and let us handle redistricting in Virginia. 10-1

Republicans are pulling this off now. But congressional insider trading is definitely a both parties problem. Pelosi has vigorously opposed measures to end it for years.
We gotta recognize when Dems are part of the problem and call them out.
BREAKING: Listen to this.

Reporter: "Your husband bought stock in Elon Musk's xAI days before the Pentagon expanded its role. Can you assure us it wasn’t based on inside info?”

Representative Lisa McClain: “100%. If it was, we would've bought a heck of a lot more."

They can safely block X and Grok along with Canada, the UK, and Australia (as currently planned), I'm sure the Commonwealth would like the company. Meta too, why not? No one needs Meta.
Take it one step at a time, making clear there are steps coming. Give him a stroke when he gets mad.
Sure, but it comes with deep global recession if it happens

Fascism isn't a coherent system by design. A coherent system can be argued against and taken apart piece by piece or all at once.
The firehose of January thru March & still today could not be argued against, if you tried, you ran around in circles and Republicans danced with fingers in their ears.
there is strange insistence — an implicit one — that fascism must be a coherent system

Furthermore, I think showing you the notifications from people you follow would be quite helpful for a number of large accounts (of which I am not one at all).
If your account is big enough, you can't just block people giving blockable replies, too many of them.
For me, it's "yes and..."

What people call "toxicity" is also partly reflective of social media platforms' features & affordances. For example, not being able to mute reposts from people we otherwise want to follow (an affordance) means we're subjected to their doomscrolling reposts.
my hot take is that I don't think it's this website specifically that's toxic. the Circumstances are toxic and nobody really knows what to do about it so they come online and scream. and if I may offer an alternative: actually going outside and screaming feels better.
