That was egregiously bad to do for the guy who was fired.
But those in charge only have one response to any infraction, which is not leadership.
One way of looking at a lot of what Trump is doing is that he's revived the line item veto.
The Supreme Court ruled in Clinton v City of NY that Congress could not by law give that power to the president. A case I worked on in me youth.
But they have not ruled on whether he can just take the power.
He and Usha get divorced because she won't convert to Christianity. He's already flagged the issue. He'll push through the divorce even as she's running after him yelling "I'll convert! Screw everything I believe in!"
He won't see his children because he'll have newer, whiter ones.
Of course the biggest percent of child abusers are related to the child, especially fathers and stepfathers and let's include boyfriends of the mother.
A dislike button is inherently confusing. If I post that my grandma has been jailed for speaking out, does the dislike button mean that you dislike the admin for doing that, or me for posting that?
Tbc, grandma died in the 1970s, it's just a hypothetical.
Resigning finance director mentioning differences in "professional standards" is the reddest of red flags. George Santos level except that Santos probably didn't have a finance director.
The negatives in the last sentence (implied double negatives bc the verb is 'deny') make it terribly confusing. I thought at first she was saying that it happened some but wasn't a big deal. Which I would agree with.
How on earth do you choose this witness for this purpose? You don't even have to be a lawyer to see the problem.
We'll overturn the TRO, but who knows what we will decide on the merits, when we hear them next year.
It's like they don't remember the Boston Harbor cleanup!
Jesus Christ, it cost many billions in the 80s and 90s to clean up the sewage dumped into the Charles and Harbor.
This is incredibly stupid. But other people in Boston remember or have read of it.
This is an incredibly boring listicle to scroll through.
Not that I would trust the Supreme Court to interpret a single clear subject, verb, object sentence, naturally.
In this case "the Founders" were 20th Century folk. Their intent is clear, and what caused them to go down this road, also clear.
This story is not at all clear. Latest from social media says he decided to self deport, not being a citizen.
This story has only appeared on social media, so is it trustworthy? or is it just that the media won't cover it? But the Oregonian has good coverage of the issue and no mention of Catalan.
This work is their life and they fear they will die without it, and statistically they are probably right.
This is not why we're here. Younger members can be just as reprehensible as old ones.
It's a bipartisan issue, because of how hard it is to tell someone who insists they don't have dementia that they do and need to step down. Or otherwise are too infirm to do the work.
If they are still on the ball, they can make fundraising calls, mentor new members. (Part of the job of being a new member.
Sure, there should be an age you cannot run past, neutral, not picking on anyone. 70 or 75.
Also some ceremonial roles for long-serving members past that age.
A good number of long-serving members don't know what to do if they aren't in Congress. Give them something to do.
This one is hard for me. Eleanor Holmes Norton is a goddamn institution, deserving of honor forever. Plus she gets no vote in Congress.
But people are terrible judges of whether they are starting to have dementia, but so are the fucking cops.
I hate making an example of her.
I will note that in DC they will call lawyers. You can't throw a stone without hitting a lawyer in the District.
I get out of it without going in by writing on the notice that I'm a lawyer and disabled and can't sit for long. Never had to go in.
I am disabled and sitting for long is uncomfortable for me, but those two facts are not related.
