Me & the wife don't bother with Xmas/birthday presents for each other, instead we wrap random things from around the house for the kids to give us. Best presents so far have been a single flip-flop and a remote for a TV we don't own. Makes life so much easier.

My Mum died earlier this year. She was a narcissist who made my life miserable. My family left me to make all the arrangements. She picked the songs for her funeral and told me she had always hated The Lord is My Shepherd. It played at the church and at the crematorium.

We do our own share of messed up stuff in the US, but this is in the top ten of horrific torture we do, and have always done.
They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.
