I don’t know, is it just me? It feels like, if you’re a person who’s already decided that these views/stances are contradictory, the word “but” gives you permission to keep believing that.

He’s not giving you that opportunity to dismiss what he has to say.

So, Mamdani does something here from 0:32 to 1:42 which feels really important and intentional (to me) and it’s something I wish more people did when talking about this:

he connects all of these points with “and” and never once uses the word “but”
