I love it when the fanbois tell us we're just envious. Yeah, Pablo Escobar owned a lot of houses and shit too.

"Is there technology the left is excited about?" is the kind of question you only ask if you're wildly naive about technology.

mRNA vaccines. Heat pumps. Offshore wind. Urban mining. Sodium batteries.

But god forbid we're not fawning over every new implementation of Making Computers Bad At Math.

So, I see Andy Beshear has a book out offering himself up as the latest Bible-thumping Dem (see James Talarico.) Folks, if you think competing for evangelicals is the Dem path to victory...no. If you think we need more religion in US politics...no. Religion in politics is a problem not a solution.

Ben Smith: I don’t know if Stephen Miller resigns before the midterms, resigns after the midterms, or sticks around. But this feels like that moment when a president puts a lot of confidence in one adviser to steer national policy in a direction that turns out to be politically disastrous.

The death toll from Musk’s budget cuts will surpass that of every war in the last few decades combined.

He knowingly triggered famines and collapsed health systems, yet he faces no consequences.

We need to stop calling it cost-cutting and start calling it what it is: mass murder

You know, if I were king of America, I think I'd stop this "financial reporting" hogslop. PAYING OFF? SoftBank borrowed $27B, sold $9.3B in assets, took a $20B margin loan against ARM, all to invest $34.6B in a company burning $20B+/year that will run out of money by Q3 2026. There, that's better.

I still think those that casually dismissed the idea that so much of the last ten years can be explained by blackmail, will ultimately be about as wrong as wrong can be.

I would go so far as to argue that calling this crisis "Purdue Pharma 2.0" is actually substantially underselling it.

Even at the worst of the opioid epidemic, mainstream media outlets weren't treating prescription drug abuse as normal and fun. All major sports aggressively promote gambling.
I see no reason not to look at the online gambling and prediction market craze as a new opioids crisis.

It will wreak havoc on lower-income Americans and leave a trail of destruction and despair in its wake.

The companies are just Purdue Pharma 2.0

Scoop: The NIH infectious-diseases institute (NIAID) will soon scrub “pandemic preparedness” and “biodefense” from its web pages, according to e-mails I obtained.

The directive is the start of a broader shake-up at NIAID, which has long been attacked by Republicans.
Exclusive: Key US infectious-diseases centre to drop pandemic preparation
Staff members have been instructed to scrub this topic and ‘biodefense’ from the agency’s website.

Anyone currently involved in federal immigration enforcement, every officer, every bureaucrat, every lawyer, every judge, is a member of the most evil group of people this country has seen since Reconstruction. Darkness personified, every one. Doing this to children is beyond depraved.
On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.

The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.

But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.

Not only did Trump lose the 2016 popular vote by nearly 3 million votes, once he was in office he launched a massive "voter fraud" investigation to prove that he'd *actually* won the popular vote by several million and then they didn't find a thing and quietly disbanded it.
Trump speaking at Fort Bragg: "The first time, I won but they say I didn't win the popular vote. You know I did. I won it by a lot."
