This is why AI is a thing in the first place. Silicon Valley is utterly disinterested in mechanical engineering challenges because line takes too long to go up and there is no infinite SaaS rent.

One thing that I think I want to emphasize in the conversation about what society should do about drivers being extremely lawless and dangerous to pedestrians and cyclists is that if you spend a lot of time as a cyclist or a pedestrian you see a lot of behavior that is *driven by individual choice*.

a great thread, that inadvertently makes the point that we have to let our hearts, our moral senses, lead us—not what a poll might tell us. over-dependence on polls is how we got here imo
there are pundits who will say that immigration is trump's strongest issue and that picking fights around immigration helps him on the margins. but i think this misunderstands the way public opinion works, as evidenced by trump's declining fortunes on his handling of immigration.
