Bill Clinton was the most powerful man in the world, and Monica Lewinsky was an intern and his subordinate, and in any other workplace that would be called sexual harassment, and if you don't take power dynamics into account when you talk about things like this, you don't actually understand consent

Saying everyone is a little autistic is akin to saying everyone's a little gay or I don't see color. Even when well intended, it strives to simplify and homogenize experiences that are different from whatever is considered conventional or the normal amount.

We saw this in April and today it's out on AppleTV. If you haven't been introduced to Andrea before, they're sentimental, goofy, and genuinely positive; an antidote for current events. Uncommonly unpaywalled so I thought I'd share @angbabbling.bsky.social

🏐 Just in from @borzmn.bsky.social: Minnesota is getting a pro volleyball team.
Minnesota is already a hub for volleyball. Now, it's getting a pro team.
Many details remain to be worked out, but the yet unnamed franchise will join League One Volleyball Pro (LOVB) for the 2027 season.

Raphael Cruz ran as Ted Cruz

Meanwhile—Barack Obama ran as Barack Obama and Zohran Mamdani ran as Zohran Mamdani, and MAGAs accuse Dems of identity politics

Every MAGA accusation is a confession

One thing i notice a lot is there’s are a lot of lefty people online for whom being mad at rich people is the extent of their politics.
And if you don’t have a plan of how to position yourself within a power structure then i don’t really have time for your politics.

Today is a good day to remember, and to say, that the #MeToo movement was right, and was righteous, and has been vindicated over and over again. There was no overreach. There was no excess. There was no they-went-too-far.

So much work remains to be done.

Important to understand the Epstein stuff and the fascism and the corruption are, in a lot of ways, really all the same story from different angles: powerful men who can and do abuse vulnerable people around them because they can, and because systems of elite accountability catastrophically failed

The fact that Trump is calling Mace and Boebert today pleading with them to remove their names from the Epstein petition at the last minute tells you everything you need to know about how incriminating the info in the files is to him and his cronies.

Wondering off the top of my head if the Supreme Court thinks that participating in a child sex trafficking ring can be construed as an “official act” or part of the President’s “core constitutional functions".

Of course he was hanging out with Jeffrey Epstein, doing whatever they all did with him. Of course Larry Summers' mind was not merely dull, but noxious and cruel. Powerful white men take for granted their mutual protection, such that they rarely worry when they expose themselves for what they are.

Trump wants to cover up the truth from the American people. Unacceptable. My Democratic colleagues and I are in DC ready to release the Epstein files, to fight for affordability for all Americans, and not give taxpayer-funded handouts to Senators.

i think this is true to some extent but it's easy to underestimate the extent to which society does not really care about women or children despite many ostentatious declarations to the contrary
Yes there's a lot of denial, but I've seen it: when it snaps, it snaps hard.

"Powerful men covered up child sex abuse" isn't outlandish when you've seen that happen in church, boy scouts, school athletics, and every other social pillar of your conservative middle-class life in the past few decades.

Earnest post: there is increasingly direct evidence that Trump participated in child sex trafficking or at least knew about it.

He should resign, be impeached and removed from office, and prosecuted.

Even if you don’t think that WILL happen it’s important to say publicly that it SHOULD happen.

I dropped off Virginia Giuffre’s memoir for Speaker Johnson. If he actually reads it, maybe he’ll finally release the Epstein Files and stop covering for the powerful men who abused her.

Justice for Virginia and the hundreds of other victims is long overdue.
