There is going to be a general strike on January 23. Make sure you don't cross the picket line.
every single successful general strike in US history has had union backing through the local AFL-CIO

this is the first time it’s been called for since the 1940s

i have been reading Tom Ricks’ “Fighting the Good War” which is a military analysis of the civil rights movement, and one thing that comes abundantly across is that movement leaders and ordinary people made it a practice to refuse to fall into despair and cynicism.

BREAKING: A full-scale airlift is running around the clock, transporting troops and military equipment to Greenland.
The operation is extensive, “beyond anything we’ve tried before,” a source tells DR. Danish F-35 fighter planes and warships from European allies involved.

👀 Agent reporting (known as a CX) from Sir Paul Dukes, codenamed ST 25, and the only SIS agent to be knighted for his services in Russia, from January 1919. Dukes was an important agent on Bolshevik political and military affairs, who later wrote about his experiences.

It’s been reported locally, but I’m not sure how much national notice this has gotten. As part of this invasion by shithead goons, they are putting ICE agents in jetbridges and other parts of the airport at Minneapolis-Saint Paul. If you are flying Delta via MSP, you are putting yourself at risk.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents will begin checking documents of travelers and workers at MSP airport, with patrols inside jet bridges.

The great @usefulnoise.bsky.social made a request that we all write something about what life in Minnesota is like for folks who live elsewhere or might be outside our normal neighbothis-Bluesky footprint. So I went to cursed Facebook and wrote this. Maybe it will help you share your own thoughts.

Looking at a 1983 cookbook compiled by "the ladies of the United States Army Intelligence Center and School" at Fort Huachuca. One of the recipes involves two kinds of Jello, a cup of mayonnaise, a cup of cottage cheese, canned milk, and canned crushed pineapple. An artifact of its time.

Anyone in the US outside of MA: is this happening at an accelerated rate where you are? If not I wonder if this is due to new (and misguided, in some respects) energy-efficiency incentives offered by the state for homeowners. Not sure I have enough followers to get much insight, but I’m curious.
Every goddamned day I come across these before/after images of wonderful houses that recently have been wrecked. We’re going to have nothing left in 20 years.
