I'll say again: we are oddly selective about the government services about which we will say, they operate at a loss.
We say Amtrak and the post office "lose money" but we never say highways, the court system, the Pentagon, etc lose money

The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

so i tried to blow the garlic powder off the taters, and it created some sort of explosive chemical weapon. i just spent half an hour scrubbing stuck-on garlic powder off every surface in a six foot radius of the kitchen sink

i'm too full of pie to do anything productive, so i'm enjoying a marathon of Hazardous History. it's absolutely delightful learning about truly horrific things like patent medicines that are basically morphine, exploding hair combs, and AutoPolo from Henry Winkler. excellent choice, history channel.
