cass cooper. a queer aussie in los angeles. future tv writer, ghost aficionado, consumer of french toast, maker of things, and arch-nemesis of my past self.

if i ever stop posting about dean winchester, something is gravely wrong.
I’ve been trying to figure out what it is about the deranged old man’s delivery on “Tasty! Sweet!” that feels so familiar, and I’ve just realized that it’s because it sounds like @shanemadej.bsky.social doing a bit.
(And now I want the @wearewatcher.bsky.social boys to screen it on Screaming Room 👀)
Watched "The Stuff" for the first time last week, and now I can't stop thinking about this wildly unnecessary opening scene that doesn't appear in the script and was almost definitely added late in production at the request of an executive who wanted an explainer for where the goo came from.

Slop Evader is a tool from artist and researcher Tega Brain that lets you search the web for results exclusively before November 30, 2022—the day that ChatGPT was released to the public.

I'm making apple gruyère pie again this year, which means I've been thinking about it all month. Searched for the photo I posted last year just to look at it.

Recipe is in the original post's replies, along with some heartache because it was Jeremy Greer who asked. I really hope he got to try it 💙
Apple gruyère pie: baked. Now I just need to finish everything else that my past self left half done last night 😵‍💫

I’d love to replace my 2019 phone that drops to 20% battery by 11am every day regardless of use! Unfortunately, I spent all my millennial savings on frivolous purchases like immigration & dental work, & none of the 35-50 jobs I’ve applied to every month for the past year seem to actually be hiring 😔
stupid young people, stop buying a new phone every year if you don't want to be broke. wait no, not like that.
November 25, 2025 at 6:34 PM
Reposting this question because I’m broke as hell and need a job but I don’t want to throw any of my very limited money away if a subscription is worthless 🙇🏻
Wondering if anyone on #scriptsky knows if there's any point in subscribing to platforms like Mandy or StaffMeUp for someone trying to break into the film & TV industry as support staff. Has anyone had any success finding work there?

Does this week also feel like a year to them?

Tonight I accidentally binged a show called “Extreme Rescues” and would like to take this moment to formally request that nobody on Earth ever explores a cave ever again. I know spelunking is fun. Caves are very cool. I get it!

But seriously, everyone needs to stop.

I'm putting a curse on every online job board that forces unemployed people to pay a subscription fee in order to access listings or submit applications.

"It's only $14.95 per month!" might seem reasonable if you're employed, but that shit adds up when you've been looking for work for over a year.

Glad to see Spike mentioned, but there’s an embarrassing lack of Castiel on this list.

If you're a writer who's cool with using AI to create art for your pitch (instead of hiring an actual artist), I guess you'd also be cool with the studio using AI to write the screenplay instead of hiring you?

I genuinely don’t know how anyone can be in the same room as this piece of shit for more than eight seconds and not tell him to go fuck himself.
When asked if there was anything "incriminating" in Epstein's emails, Trump pointed a finger in a female reporter's face and snapped. 'Quiet. Quiet, Piggy.'

There's this one actor who's been in everything lately, & by all accounts he's a decent person, but he always looks like he's acting. As in, I can always see the veneer. It kills any chance of immersion.

I wish him well, but I also wish he'd pivot to only taking roles in genres I don't care about.

I think the most interesting thing about that loathsome little worm is that without even a shred of context there's an almost 100% chance that you knew I was talking about JD Vance just from the epithet.

Actually, this is a little known fact, but if any of you work in the film & television industry and know about an entry level support staff or other admin role, you're legally required to at least forward me the listing.
1. Find listing for an office admin role at a "confidential" company near LAX.
2. Apply even though it's not in entertainment because I've been jobless for over a year & need money to live.
3. Discover that the company is a weapons manufacturer.
4. Withdraw application because I would rather starve.

If I exist in a bubble, it is one where I'm surprised and mortified when I leave my circle of people who know how to write and express themselves clearly.
Seen a few of the epstein emails now, all with different people and it's not the main issue here but is everyone illiterate

I’ve seen a few folks go for the “if you simply must watch that new Harry Potter show just pirate it” and sorry. No. Just no. Just don’t watch it. At all. Ever. Break free of it. It’s time. You’ll be ok. I promise. I know it mattered to you as a kid. Find new things, it’s healthier. Just move on.

Good news! The things I thought were far too similar in the middle of the night are actually mostly vibes based. I thought it was about to be another "The plot of The Martian is somehow almost identical to my moon-based horror project" situation, but it turns out I was worried over nothing.
Me after watching the excellent first ep of Pluribus and realizing that the pilot & pitch I've spent the past year writing, rewriting, and polishing is now going to look like a rip off.

Obviously the show is great. Highly recommend! Vince Gilligan has done it again!

But also... god fucking dammit.

The only way this could be remotely difficult for the writers to work around is if they're saying that the 007 movies exist within the same canon. But if that's the case, James Bond is not just a spy, he's a 100 year old shapeshifting spy, and--

Actually hold on, I need to go write something down.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."
