Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Eastside Cafe (rip) in Austin was an adorable institution in a craftsman home on Manor before that area exploded, and they had a chocolate silk pie that I still dream about. Perfectly smooth, decadent, and airy all at once — I’ve spent years trying to get close but I know I’ll never quite match it.

Daily reminder that the underlying purpose of AI is to allow wealth to access skill while removing from the skilled the ability to access wealth.
Anyway, AI has already stolen friends’ work, and is going to put other people out of work.
