For years, but especially for the past year, Democrats have been in thrall to the idea that they need to chase an imagined median voter, and adopt that voter’s positions. Mamdani’s victory shows another way: hold principles, and persuade people to share them.

Bucks County, Pennsylvania, was ground zero for the conservative takeover of school boards & anti-LGBTQ policies in 2021, on the Central Bucks and Pennridge boards.

Dems flipped both boards back in 2023.

Tonight, Dems have ousted *all* Republicans from both school boards.

These big wins will embolden Dems to take on Trump's lawbreaking and show there's a price for GOP enabling of him. Folks hate to hear this, but normal patterns are asserting themselves: Liberalism isn't dead, Rs are likely to lose in 2026, and Trump is really unpopular, not a magical exception.

Thank you to the Indivisible Maryland Coalition for calling out a powerful Democrat's attempts to block Democrats' redistricting push in his state. GOP states are rigging the midterm maps nationwide and Maryland must act to level the playing field — our democracy needs fighters, not bystanders.

The Indivisible Maryland Coalition—a network of 49 grassroots groups statewide—is calling out Senate President Bill Ferguson for refusing to move forward with redistricting in response to Republican-led gerrymandering nationwide. The coalition argues Ferguson’s inaction weakens Maryland’s Democratic supermajority, silences state lawmakers, and undermines efforts to defend democracy. They urge Maryland leaders, including Governor Wes Moore and the General Assembly, to show courage and act decisively to protect fair representation and counter GOP map-rigging.

The Indivisible Maryland Coalition urges immediate action on redistricting to counter Republican-led gerrymandering in other states. They call on Governor Wes Moore to convene a special legislative session and for the General Assembly to assert Maryland’s authority to protect fair representation.
They emphasize that Senate President Bill Ferguson can still reverse course by supporting mid-decade redistricting rather than maintaining inaction.
The coalition calls on Maryland residents to pressure Ferguson and their legislators to back a special session, arguing that delay until 2026 would forfeit a key chance for Democrats to defend democracy nationwide.
The statement concludes that Ferguson must stop blocking his own party and take a stand for democracy — Marylanders deserve leadership and action.
