I just finished spending several hours with dear dear family friends who moved interstate and I've barely seen since.
Known them my whole life (and their whole lives for the kids-now-young-adults). Didn't know if I'd get to see them, but I did.

Since the police don't actually protect the protestors it seems insane to ask they should be expected to pay them too.
