WP just raging about Mamdani being a class traitor to the moneyed class. Implicit in their statement is that it's good and normal for anyone born into wealth (even relatively modest wealth, not just billionaires) to adopt a worldview of "fuck you got mine" and resist improving the lives of the poor.

Yeah but there's also degrees of violence to the violent border regime. Plenty of modern nations get by with the normal level of violence being refusal of entry at customs and the outer extreme of violence is deportation (only done when the person is found guilty of a crime by a court of law)

Also the idea that a space that excludes the fascists automatically becomes an echo chamber is ridiculous. Bluesky has centrists, neoliberals, social democrats, anarchists, tankies, and conservatives who reject authoritarianism, and more. The idea that there's no viewpoint diversity is laughable.

The point absolutely stands that the makeup of the IL and TX national guards aren't going to be different by more than 10%, but Cook County itself has a very strong D lead (while the state outside of Chicagoland looks like Indiana)

I don't know what statistical mess "partisan lean" is but in terms of ballots cast for presidential candidates in the last election, Illinois went 54-43 for Harris, and Cook County went 70-28 (with ~2.5% for independents)
