Don’t ever let people forget this.
And one of the first survivors to step forward to try to stop Epstein? A trans woman, who was promptly mocked and villified by the New York Post, New York Magazine, the courts and law enforcement.

So believe me I understand this is deeply frustrating and unfair, but a march that does everything right and still gets tear gassed is a successful march that is winning.

A lot of the strategy of protest is luring the authorities into engaging in obviously, transparently unjust uses of force.
It's hard to overstate how ell-organized the portland march that got gassed was... organizers made the crowd promise to be peaceful, said the march would slow in front of the ICE building but not stop, that we would stick to one chant (ICE Out). They did absolutely everything right and got gassed.

Wait. Misogynistic Cinematic Universe. MCU. God fucking dammit. I am losing my mind here.
The red thread linking all of those things is misogyny.

Lots of ways to be an asshole, but what the 4Chan guys have in common with the Nazis and the Tradcath Illuminati and the pedophiles is their commitment to violent, sexualized domination of women and girls.

I'll add that a median age under 18 is exactly what you expect with high childhood mortality. Places where about half of all children born die before their 15th birthday end up with a LOT of children just to maintain population.

Being in your mid 30s has never made one a senior, just an adult.

No, it shows a number of data sets of (wealthy) men with known ages at death for several premodern societies, and all of them show samples of high status adult men (like Jefferson) living to 55-70.

These patterns are extremely common and well attested in historical societies across the globe.

The average lifespan for someone who survived to their 18th birthday was more like 65. Child mortality brings down that global average a LOT.

The arrests of journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort are a test for every MSM member with a platform. If you are not voicing your outrage at this blatant violation of the First Amendment, you are utterly discredited as a journalist.

...this explains the “activists gone too far” trope, which makes no actual sense: there's been a decade-long well-funded & highly coordinated GOP/TERF/far-right campaign targeting us! but unmarked groups always imagine the marked group as "provoking" & "asking for it" (in this case, the backlash)...

You can actually avoid upsetting everyone with immigration enforcement by not doing it, the only people upset by this will be racists who work at the New York Times
In @nytopinion.nytimes.com

“The Trump administration was entirely correct to prioritize deportations after the collapse of immigration enforcement under his predecessors,” our columnist Ross Douthat writes, but “misplaced priorities and excessive brutality have created a debacle.”
Opinion | Immigration Enforcement Is Unavoidably Upsetting. But This Is Something Else.
Is this really the only way to enforce the law?

Here's a regular white guy (literally "Chad") not a protester. because, "It seemed pointless, or just a way for people to expiate their sense of guilt." Chad witnessed something shattering. And, that all changed in a moment.

Excellent article!

Referring to the US as a "homeland" was always creepy as fuck, always nazi-adjacent, and creating a Dept. of Homeland Security was an obvious lurch toward authoritarianism that should have been strenuously resisted from the beginning.

(Oh weird the hippies were right again.)

never been a better moment to go after qualified immunity for EVERYONE, not just ICE. Pressley never misses
There's no ICE accountability without ending qualified immunity.

They're murdering people. There won't be justice for the lives they've stolen, but there must be accountability.

My bill with @markey.senate.gov would ensure families can sue the agents murdering their loved ones.

What's happening in Minnesota is one reason the Reconstruction Amendments banned insurrectionists from holding office. Unfortunately, the originalists on the Supreme Court interpreted the plain language of the amendment to mean its opposite.

Message to fellow journalists (and anyone claiming to be one): do not “police-involved shooting” executions in broad daylight.

Obfuscating language like that is completely journalistically unnecessary and, even worse, sanitizes reality.

Words have meaning. Use the right ones.

Reminder: All it would take to end the murder of American citizens by an untrained government goon squad is 16 Republicans in Congress voting with Dems to defund ICE (or 23 to impeach and remove Trump — 3 in House & 20 in Senate). That’s it. 23 Americans can vote for the public and end all of this.

"What can Democrats actually do?"

- Vote against funding for ICE and DHS

- State that any ICE officers who commit crimes under Trump will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law

- Encourage cities and states to refuse to cooperate with ICE

- Explain ICE is part of Trump's tyranny

TikTok is now under US ownership and their new ToS reads like a guide to giving fascists everything they need to put you on a list.

They’re collecting information about immigration status, citizenship, sexual orientation, whether you’re trans or non binary and physical or mental disabilities.

People are missing a big thing about the saga of the detained 5-year-old. When Vance calls the father an "illegal alien" it seems to reflect a little-known Trump admin move that attempts to nullify asylum claims before they are even heard.

This policy is a horror:
