I cannot emphasize enough the importance of finding one constructive real world offline thing you can do to use your particular skills in service of fighting fascism as a psychological defense against the constant drumbeat of fuckery
my hot take is that I don't think it's this website specifically that's toxic. the Circumstances are toxic and nobody really knows what to do about it so they come online and scream. and if I may offer an alternative: actually going outside and screaming feels better.

My advice towards this is don't overthink it, if it feels wrong don't engage, and worse still if you feel like you are getting baited into a pointless conflict, shut it down fast. Life is just too short for petty crap.
your mileage may vary but my experience on here improved pretty noticeably when I stopped offering explanations to people whose questions sought conflict rather than answers

TIL the birth of 'modern guitar pedals' happened on a Marty Robbin's song recorded in 1960 and released in 1961 called 'Don't Worry'. At 1:26 the fuzz kicks in and history is made. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgZA...

Some of the greatest educational, information, and news services in the US all stemmed from the CPB. This is a bad day.
The Corporation for Public Broadcasting was dissolved today after 58 years of service.

CPB board members said the combination of Trump/GOPers stripping its federal funding + sustained political attacks “made it impossible” for it to continue operating. www.huffpost.com/entry/latest...

One of the most lopsided results you'll ever see in a poll, from our weekend Washington Post poll www.washingtonpost.com/politics/int...

I have no idea how anything is going to “poll”, but threatening Canada, Mexico, Cuba, and… Denmark is fucking awful, what we did in Venezuela was a crime and I can’t escape the feeling that how the next years play out will be worse still. Sure wouldn’t mind a return to peace and prosperity 🤷‍♂️

“predicted”
“What appears to be a newly created account appeared to invest $30,000 Friday in Maduro's exit. After Maduro went into custody Saturday morning, that same investor netted $436,759.61.”
Someone made $400K by predicting Maduro's capture. Here's what happened
The winnings come as the rules governing prediction markets are still evolving.

"The President in every possible instance shall consult with Congress before introducing United States Armed Forces into hostilities or into situations where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly indicated by the circumstances." 50 USC 1542
News: Gang of Eight in Congress were only notified about Trump's Venezuela operation after it began, source familiar tells me. That means the heads of the Intelligence Committees in Senate and House were *not* consulted. Just crazy.

I’m starting to see special operations forces the way the Founders saw standing armies: having them & investing so much in them makes it entirely too tempting for a tyrant to use them

You have to go through Congress for anything resembling this type of war. Round up Massie and Paul types and have him removed. The people in this administration are on actual drugs and have insatiable bloodlust and bespoke mental illnesses. He has to go, and everybody with him.

If your position is that regime change should be forced on countries where the president does not respect democratic norms and regularly kidnaps opponents using an officially sanctioned paramiliatary, have I got news for you about your position on the United States

Among the many reasons you don’t kidnap a foreign head of state at gunpoint even if you have the capability, is that it sparks consequences you can neither control nor anticipate.

The actions against Maduro are beyond the pale. Trump has to be impeached, enough.
