The US continues to lose manufacturing jobs—payrolls are down 81k over the last year, & another 5k jobs were lost in November

Transportation (especially auto manufacturing), wood & electronics/electrical manufacturing are the biggest losers, but few subsectors are doing well

A new "crash clock" says Earth orbit is three days from disaster.

If all satellite lost the ability to maneuver (eg in a solar storm), it says collisions would be imminent.

Really interesting study this. Story by me in @newscientist.com

Satellites in orbit would begin to collide in a matter of days if they lost manoeuvrability during a solar storm or other outage

If you've been put under for routine testing, you've likely taken fentanyl and as a result you're a terrible person and probably a terrorist. Remain where you are and ICE will come for you shortly.

My 7th grader’s English language arts teacher just told her that she had chatGPT grade her paper.

When kiddo pointed out chatGPT docked her for not having a comma in a sentence where she did have a comma, the teacher conceded she was right but said that was no reason to review the grade.

This is fucking grim. Somebody invented a white guy, an "IT professional" named Edward Crabtree, who stopped the Bondi shooting and spread it all over the internet, which was picked up by AI agents and slop aggregation sites.

The real hero is a fruit stand owner named Ahmed el Ahmed.

More research showing a thing the GC movement wishes to deny trans people, in this case respecting their name and pronouns, is a thing that improves mental health and could prevent a death by suicide, yet still they persist.
“Transgender and nonbinary youth (ages 13 to 24) whose pronouns are respected were 31 percent less likely to attempt suicide in the past year than those whose pronouns are not respected, according to a new report from The Trevor Project”

Importantly, this wouldn't have passed without Dem support. There was enough of a split within Republican ranks that if Dems had voted against the bill it would've been doa. Giving Trump a blank check to warmonger *and* passing an anti-trans measure was a choice.
115 Democrats just voted to codify the first federal trans segregation law.
