Sometimes you wonder. Bloomberg this morning saying that you can't both believe that AI is a big deal and that we're in a bubble. But you absolutely can! That's exactly the story of the tech bubble of the 90s, major economic impact but not big profits. Sigh.

When my parents turned 80, they worked out a deal with my older sister for her to buy their house (which we all coveted) over time, and in exchange she'd help them stay in it as long as they could.

After they inked the deal, Dad said, "Thank God! Now I don't have to clean up the place!"

I firmly believe the US constitutional article II action 2 presidential pardon authority requires revised limitations. No president should be able to pardon an appointed member of their administration for crimes committed as part of their official (and unofficial) duties for the administration.

Throwback to Pam Bondi’s campaign ad for Florida AG:

“I’ll fight to put human trafficking monsters where they belong. Behind bars.”

The ad aged. The internet remembers.

I used "smooth-brained" as a dig until a father of a boy with lissencephaly -- the medical term for the condition -- wrote me an incredibly patient note to explain what his son had to deal with.

This phrase is a gratuitous insult to parents and children who are already suffering. Don't use it.
Finally, a Smooth-Brained Wuthering Heights
Emerald Fennell’s Emily Brontë adaptation is brave enough to just be about two messy bitches.

SCOOP: The NSA detected a phone call between foreign intelligence and a person close to Trump last spring.

Whistleblower says that Tulsi Gabbard blocked agency from sharing report and delivered it to White House chief of staff.

Those are extremely worrying red lines and mean that Canada and Europe can't just go back to treating the US as a natural ally.
And the trend goes both ways, by the way.

The US government is telling Americans to hate Europeans and Canadians. And many have dutifully changed their opinions.

Never mind the jobs you had, tell me five classes you took in college

Oh lord, in which era? I’m a lifelong learner and my post-secondary education path has gone from pre-med to compSci to j-school to economics to law & management. Plus detours to Art School and Culinary School.
Never mind the jobs you had, tell me five classes you took in college

Honestly, everyone seems to have taken awesome classes. Mine were pretty standard

Intro to Canadian Politics
Intro to Comparative Politics
Intro to IR
Etc.

The “cool” stuff I got was through non-stop extra-curricular clubs.
Never mind the jobs you had, tell me five classes you took in college

Sage, the Way, and Zen
Shakespeare
Religion and Modern Secularism
Creative Fiction Writing
International Political Economy

Pleasantly surprised how many of these classes proved useful later in life.
