It's a good thing 'juror' is not a career, and it's been a pretty obviously bad thing that 'judge' is.
one of my kinda more crank, unworkable ideas is that there are jobs where the people who self-select into them are not the people who you want & that maybe we should just sortition people into those roles. like there are some things that attract people to policing that you don't want in cops.

There is no redeeming this, no amount of training that can fix the rot at the heart of this institution. Any Democratic official that votes to give this agency a penny is betraying our country.
Minnesota: "School officials say the [5-year-old] child was used as bait. They say [ICE] agents made little Liam knock on the door to ask to be let in in order to see if anyone else was home."

ICE kidnapped a 5-year-old and sent him alone to a facility in Texas. Hell isn't hot enough.
Here’s the report from KARE. The boy is five-year-old Liam Ramos.

🚨HOLY CRAP. An ICE whistleblower just revealed a secret memo authorizing ICE officers to break into homes without a judicial warrant, which DHS's own legal training materials say is unconstitutional!

ICE then hid the memo from the public, passing it along by word of mouth and private conversation.

this is actually a basic D&D problem: the game's 'economy' is still built on the notion that resting is limited and dangerous.
Really destroys the resource economy the game wants to have too; you can take too many long rests

I really do think "caretaking" being fem-coded and growing to encompass like... basic civilizational upkeep... is somehow the key to all this. Paladin went from the most masc-coded to the most fem-coded class. IDK how to articulate this intelligently.
It does seem like femininity, while it was also somewhat fragmented along socioeconomic and ethnic/cultural lines, has fragmented yet further along ideological lines, and now it's a crap shoot

Trump: "No nation is in any position to be able to secure Greenland other than the US. We're a great power. Much greater than people even understand. I think they found that out 2 weeks ago in Venezuela. We saw this in World War 2 when Denmark fell to Germany after just 6 hours of fighting."

I don’t doubt your sincerity so I will be nice. I am not interested in “supporting Democrats” or “dragging them down.” I want to annihilate the monstrous out of control paramilitary that is terrorizing everyone I know. If Democrats are with me on this, I’m with them. If not, we’ll fight it alone.
I’d like to win many elections. The issue is you guys spend all your time dragging Democrats down so we can barely win one.

So, like, this is totally because of zoning, right? Like we can all pretty easily see that the reason we didn't get [Cyberpunk] is because all Cyberpunk media takes place in dense cities, which we banned in the U.S., right? That's why we're not getting cheap street food and cool neon signs.
we're getting all the downsides of cyberpunk (social alienation, ruthless hyper capitalism, digital mass surveillance state) but none of the promised upsides (cheap street food, cool jackets, super drugs that make you really fast and strong before they kill you)

Just as everyone predicted with the exception of Donald Trump, Scott Bessent, Howard Lutnick, and Kevin Hassett. The last 3 knew they’ve been lying, not sure with Orange Caligula because he’s a moron and a liar so in his case it could be either one or both.

German Jews were citizens of Germany at the start of 1933. By the end of 1933, the Nazis had
removed citizenship from naturalized citizen Jews.

In 1935, all German Jews were fully stripped of their German citizenship.

Citizenship under dictatorships is contingent for targeted minorities.

Let's remember that MLK was assassinated while in Memphis supporting African American sanitation workers who were, despite CNN's weird definition, actually members of the working class.
it’s just so crazy to see it happen in real time

As a Jew, I'm getting really, really fucking tired of certain people using I/P to intentionally fracture and divide our party (and, in turn, fracture American Jewish life wholesale).

This was a perfectly reasonable ask from Harris, whose husband and children are Jewish.

THE MAN THEY TOOK WRAPPED IN A BLANKET IS A U.S. CITIZEN.

This is the Kavanaugh Stop of all Kavanaugh Stops.
Sunday, at least 7 ICE agents stormed a house and took an elderly man out into the freezing cold, wearing only his underwear and a blanket.

He was a member of the Hmong community, which came to the area from Laos in the 1970s after siding with the US in the Vietnam War.

We had endless articles and TV clips about Biden's mental capacity but silence about Trump's obvious unfitness when he says he's going to start a war with Denmark over Greenland because he didn't get the Nobel Peace Prize.
Not the sort of letter committed to paper by a well man. "Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace"
