Working on a theory that the jewel thieves were able to blend effortlessly into the crowds because their stripey burglar jumpers were, with the simple addition of a string of onions, flawless Frenchman disguises.
Feeling very Judy Maxwell at the bus stop this morning
It must really suck to be That One Guy In Sunshine (2007) Who Didn’t Become A Whole Big Thing
Potato sounds lovely and soothing. My mum used to make us (lightly, not very oily) fried egg and mashed potatoes when we were poorly. I’ve got mash and carrots and gammon for dinner, followed by pear and dark chocolate crumble.
God, yes! Instagram keeps serving me up very American cooking videos and it’s all adding insane amounts of spice so you can’t taste the original thing at all any more. I love it, but not everything needs smoked paprika.

Every video you make with Sora 2 costs OpenAI $5. This year they’ve spent the best part of a Trillion Dollars (one thousand billion) and brought in $12bn revenue. For them to be able to *break even* they’d need to increase the cost of every monthly subscription 10 times. They are so fucked.

10pm on Saturday night and I am doing Tudor embroidery in front of a sixty year old documentary about the Victoria line
This was a free session and my local museum and the instructor we had was great. If your kit’s on aida you should be fine - when the course ran last year one of my friends had to do it on evenweave linen and said that was a struggle!
I did have a very niche reference in mind, but this is making me want to make a sequin Kermit
Bought two sweatshirts on Vinted as I think this is the year I finally make myself a Muppet Christmas Carol-themed jumper
I have fucked a bit up but I think if I continue to make it symmetrical I can get away with it
My blackwork vs the blackwork in Holbein’s portrait of Jane Seymour (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ha...), I would make an excellent Tudor lady in waiting
If you taped them to A4 you could always scan them into a computer and trace round them in software like Inkscape to get permanent digital copies!

Great moments in redaction history.
Went to the top of the class in Embroidery School, lads. This may not look impressive but a) the back is identical and b) it’s about twice as much stitching as everyone else managed, please ignore the fact that the rotated bottom repeat is too long and I’m going to have to unpick it when I get home

let me note that one of the actual tests here is going to be 'what do people pushing these ideas want for their own children' and I will bet you a lot of money that the answer is 'the elite university model of Harvard et al' not 'learning through AI slop'
Wow. Just wow.

"Students pay premium prices for information that AI now delivers instantly and for free. A business student can ask ChatGPT to explain supply chain optimization or generate market analysis in seconds. The traditional lecture-and-test model faces its Blockbuster moment."

My super modern regulatory plan is that any entity named for a thing from Tolkien has to publicly explain why Tolkien wouldn’t immediately throw it into Mount Doom
Tolkein continues to resonate. The new bank being set up by Palmer Luckey and backed by Peter Thiel is named Erebor after the “lonely mountain” in The Hobbit. This was also an interesting line in this rpt on the new bank by @tabbykinder.bsky.social www.ft.com/content/202d...

Celia Imrie came to an event at work and asked if we would mind also accommodating her friend Don. I was expecting a 60-year-old real estate guy in a grey suit, then she arrived with Don Cheadle
