I only recently became aware of his academic career as opposed to his book-eating antics. What kind of credulous arsewipe studies the techniques of the far right and decides “fuck yeah, I’ll have some of that”?
Reform politician Matthew Goodwin tells the Sunday Times that he would "rather shoot myself in the head" than be at dinner with Nick Robinson and Mary Beard, and the last thing the ex-acadenuc would ever have wanted would be to be a Professor at some Oxford college "backwater with zero influence"
You dont win 'em all! Reform's Matt Goodwin in Sunday Times: 'Most .. people criticising me are nerds. The last thing I want is to be at some dinner party table with Nick Robinson & Mary Beard. I'd rather shoot myself in the head'. Hang on, I'm not THAT bad!Nerds sometimes have a (thoughtful!) point.

Haha, this was so long ago I’m going to have to hazard a guess because I can’t look it up. Five classes at University:

- Introduction to Film Theory
- Screenwriting
- Auteur Theory with a focus on Hitchcock (and someone else, can’t remember who)
- History of Horror
- American Quality Television
Five classes in university

Narratives of Witchcraft and Magic
Romance Ballads & Fairytales
Icelandic Sagas
Freud and Psychoanalytic Literature
The Quantum Universe
Never mind the jobs you had, tell me five classes you took in college:

Old English Language and Literature

Old Norse Language and Literature

Palaeography (Manuscript Studies)

Textual Criticism (how to make a usable edition out of half-burned manuscripts)

Germanic Philology (language history)

There's an episode of Star Trek where Geordi gets the computer to create a hologram of Leah Brahms with a personality based off her writings and public speaking and it creates something that's submissive and complimentary, entirely unlike the real person. Just thinking of that lately for no reason

I was explaining my mooncup issues to Partner as I think it’s important he understands the complex realities of womanhood. In doing so I bashed my tit on a doorframe, another of the complex realities of womanhood.

Sleuth
Bugsy Malone
The Long Goodbye
The Taking of Pelham One Two Three
Five fave 70s films
F For Fake
The Wicker Man
Young Frankenstein
Elvis: That's The Way It Is

The 70s is a much harder decade for me than the forties, fifties, or sixties. Most of the big stuff like the Godfather I admire more than enjoy.
Five fave 70s films

Deathdream
The Brood
The Silent Partner
Cries and Whispers
Female Prisoner 701: Scorpion

I owe the Canadian tax shelter era so much.

“leading her to take risks with her personal safety“ what risks for her personal safety??? Being trans??? Being trans and going outside in the park to meet peers from school????
okay I'm sorry but I fundamentally do not see how this is anything other than victim-blaming Brianna??

Brianna met her killers, one of whom was a friend, in broad daylight. How is that some kind of online-influenced risk-taking?? They could have been meeting up to go to the cinema

Interested to see they can’t meet accessibility standards when I, a humble local government officer, have just spent a whole day writing meaningful alt text so my map-heavy 30 page report can be read and understood by everyone.

I’m a big fan of the mooncup but even as an experienced user there’s still room for catastrophe. This morning was very much a Shining-lift-doors-gif of an event.

I was really struggling emotionally at the start of the year and strongly felt I would be fixed if I could have had Stephen Fry read me Prisoner of Azkaban. I get that you all have Opinions about literary quality and I’m aware the Potter books’ politics do not stand up to scrutiny, but they are
Question for the Skyline: What was your HARDEST "cancel"?? Like the actor/singer/athlete that was the hardest to drop.

I feel like it's always people I don't fw getting canceled so it's never really a loss.

The hardest one was maybe TI because I actually liked multiple albums by him.

I'm sorry, but the reaction to Brianna Ghey being murdered by people she knew offline *because she was transgender* becoming 'we should stop teenagers from being on social media' rather than 'we should deal with the recent horrifying rise of transphobia in the UK' is unbelievably fucking bullshit.

People who stand on the bottom of the stairs at Acton Town in particular. Move on to the fucking platform!
What’s something very minor that still upsets you deeply?

I HATE when the tag on the sheets/blanket somehow end up near my upper body on the bed. Gotta fix that shit IMMEDIATELY every time.

My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.

I have had an amazing evening in the company of about 2% of all of the Bulgarians in Ealing. They taught us to dance and fed us cheesy pastries and shared their culture and were very generous and kind.
