Trump's conduct here and his comments about Pretti and Ilham Omar are all consistent with a diagnosis of severe malignant narcissism. A malignant narcissist feels no compassion for others or their losses and understands everything only in terms of how its affects him or his reputation or self-image.

This was just me making this comparison yesterday, but today the Korean news is calling Minnesota "America's Gwangju" and have human rights lawyers explaining how America is now living through the dictatorship Korea once had.
The Chun regime that my wife fought against in the 80s did the exact same thing. They needed a "crisis" that "only they could solve" to hoard more ill-gotten power, so they chose one city (Gwangju), declared its inhabitants enemies, sent trucks full of soldiers to violently attack and kill them.

They're openly hostile to our civic creed and the legacy of the American Revolution, but many of them are also genuinely, absurdly, "how did you make it through middle school?" ignorant of the most basic highlights of American history.
