If anyone is interested...

I bylined a piece for the Lemkin Institute regarding the mass graves imaged by satellite on CECOT grounds.

This is a functioning death camp that we are still sending humans to.

We must not look away from this.

exactly this. do you correctly view MAGA as an evil force that jerks off over murdering women and flash banging babies, which must be crushed and destroyed forever? Or are you still clinging to a dangerously naive delusion that these creatures can be won over with the Power of Debate?
the dividing line amongst democrats is basically do you view republicans as existential threats to the country or do you view them as sparring partners.

it’s 2026. cuck democrats can either get on board or get primaried

I believe speaker Mike Johnson was quoted as saying that ice is doing what it is designed to do...
I don’t think people quite understand that the occupation by ICE in the Twin Cities has more or less erased non-white people from public life. They cannot safely exist in any space accessible to the public and moving between private places leaves folks vulnerable to kidnapping by armed masked goons.

turns out you can do things
The Virginia legislature today passed four constitutional amendments, all by day 3 of 2026 session:

—protect abortion rights
—repeal the same-sex marriage ban
—allow mid-decade redistricting
—greatly expand voting rights restoration.

These will all go to 2026 referendums.

“The entire operation is becoming slower and more resource-intensive. There is good reason to believe that more immigrants are with their families tonight because of ICE Watch.”
For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
Opinion | I'm a Minneapolis sociologist who studies violence. Here's how ICE observers are helping.
Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.

I am also reading this right now, and it's a remarkable reflection on strategy and operations in general. Ppl need to get to know MLK the flinty-eyed political operator, not just MLK the freedom-and-equality-loving idealist.

The library ebook business is such a scam. Good to see dem state lawmakers are considering banding together to negotiate fairer deals.
Are you currently 480th in line for an e-book and wondering why @dcpubliclibrary.bsky.social doesn't just ... buy more copies?

The short answer: e-books are incredibly expensive. But D.C. lawmakers have a plan to curb the excessive pricing from publishers, @maustermuhle.bsky.social reports:
Libraries can't afford e-books. D.C. lawmakers have a plan.
The demand and price for e-books is up — and it’s busting the D.C. Public Library budget.

this is alarming and disconcerting and also my god we deserve a post that’s just about a weird potato. thank you.
Got my first bag of potato chips in months. Cracked it open. The first chip out of the bag was... soggy?

The second chip was almost fungal.

Baffled, I explored the bag and discovered AN ENTIRE POTATO. Unsliced, brined, like a wad of seasoning juice. It had survived, and now was juicing the chips.

See, Dems? You can actually say it, and even draft legislation about it! It's possible to do!
