Bob Dylan, we need to talk about Girl from the North Country being used in a Facebook commercial. Did you think about evil ass Meta using your song when you sold your catalog? Because gross.

My brain is short circuiting looking at this NWS expected snowfall map for the western UP. That is a lot of snow for a short window of time.

Really thankful that I was at an event this morning with zero cell service so that I didn’t have to read the word “felching” in public

I’m going to go paint my windows using oil based paint and hope I huff enough to erase from my brain everything I accidentally read

The tiny movie theatre in my husband’s tiny hometown is showing Planes, Trains and Automobiles and I went and it was fantastic. Truly so much better on the big screen.

Glass is porous and glass shower doors usually come from the fabricator with a water repellent coating. It wears down over time, but Rain-X makes a cleaner and a water repellent specific to showers that will save you so much time.

(K&B professional, not sponsored by Rain-X)
a thing i didn’t know about having a glass encased shower when we moved into this joint is how much vinegar i would a) go through and b) inhale trying to keep it clean enough for guests

What the Epstein files show is the *solidarity* of many men-across class, race, religion, profession & party affiliation-in the global political project of keeping the boot on women's necks.

People have no problem understanding class solidarity among the rich. Why can't they see gender solidarity?
Like I dunno, maybe the reason it took a lady to break open the story of all the men protecting the dude trafficking underage girls is because the male journos were all emailing him making jokes about it?

The one minute mark of Eatin’ Big Time by Tyler Childers is such a mood this week. When his vocals ramp up and get ragged it feels like the audio equivalent of my own rage bubbling up, rage over trying to lead a conscientious life while a section of elites operate in gutter morality with impunity.

It’s very enervating to watch intelligent and educated people play dumb about this amidst the ascendance of a far-right reactionary movement driven by antisocial Silicon Valley psychos and Miami crypto scammers who all treat women as status symbols on the same level as NFTs and Labubus.
he’s a provider of access to money, connections and beautiful women and girls — everything that these people need to affirm their own status. being rich and powerful is a grift which requires other to bolster & buy in. That’s the service Epstein provided.
Something that’s so striking in these emails is how…unimpressive Epstein is. He comes off as a pompous, sub-literate lech. Yes everyone is so mortifyingly solicitous of him! All fawning and flattery! Why?????

My dirty secret as someone who spends a significant amount of time near the Canadian border: I’ve only seen the northern lights once, not even when I was up north, and they were weak.

Missed the whole ding dang thing last night while at swim practice. Zero stars.

LIGHT PLASMA: *exists*

OXYGEN MOLECULES: oh my fucking GOD that is INCREDIBLE
A few more photos from tonight’s incredible #aurora. I’m fascinated by the amount of red light tonight. This is generated by oxygen molecules being excited by light plasma at least 600 km above the Earth. The green is also oxygen molecules, but much lower (100-250km). Definitely a great night.

Here is mine and Christa Lawler's story on the Edmund Fitzgerald anniversary. I spent time with daughters of men who went down with the ship, who graciously shared funny and beautiful memories of their dads. To them it's more than a song and a legend. www.startribune.com/50-years-lat...
50 years later, the mystery of the Edmund Fitzgerald still haunts the children of its lost crew

One of the most chilling things about this story is that some did not even know it was ICE.
They thought it was “an attack on the school” i.e. a school shooter.
Think on that for a minute.
“They didn’t just walk in chasing one person, they went into multiple rooms asking and looking for teachers while children were present,” Ramirez said. “This is an agency that has gone rogue and it an agency that believes that as long as they can cover their face, they can get away with anything.”
Families "horrified" after daycare teacher pulled out of school by federal agents.
The incident happened in front of parents and children at Rayito de Sol in North Center, a parent said. They believe the employee, who cares for infants, is legally allowed to work in the United State...

I can't tell you how many times my daughter and I would discuss a news or political topic and she would already have knowledge of the topic because of Teen Vogue. She started reading because of beauty topics, but became a regular reader because of coverage of things like ICE and deportations.

i'm still seeing people say things like "they don't intend to win elections", and, like, look at last night's results. those are not outcomes you can reject through slim efforts at trickery, those are overwhelming defeats that can't be ignored. stop letting your doom brain do their work.
a thing that i find really interesting about the results last night is that i can't see a way for republicans to course correct before the midterms without some pretty radical realignments. an awful lot of what people are mad as hell about is baked into the core of the party now.
