So I read in some article that folks are adding deliberate typos to their writing in order to dispel suspicions that they’re getting machines to speak for them. That’s coward shit. I say just use the word “fuck” more.

In the face of enshittification, commence the enfuckening.

The Govt claims to be pro-market yet: $200m subsidy for oil exploration; Uncapped subsidies to decommission old oil fields; $1billion subsidy for LNG imports; Fonterra faces zero price for emissions under ETS. There is a pattern here. They are using the state to support and subsidise pollution.

So these dipshits won't fund a *pair* of ferry terminals that'd get used several times a day, but will fund an LNG terminal that *might* get used once in a blue moon?

One terminal, for the same price as two, and with zero (0) ferries?

The Trump Administration ordered the National Parks Service (which manages momument locations like the Stonewall Hotel) to remove the Pride flag.

This is the birthplace of the queer revolution movement!

Every young person sentence online reads like this to me now:

"Bro entered low-stim flow state doing a 10 min grocery rotation and got mogged by a friendly neighborhood cat 💀 Is proximity-maxxing essentials while touch-grass-pilled more optimal than suburb-meta carbrained bulk errands?"

A little bear figurine carved out of amber some 6,000 years ago 🐻❤️

A hole runs through the bear’s torso suggesting it was threaded on a cord, perhaps worn or carried as a protective charm.

Found in a peat bog near Słupsk, Poland, in 1887.

When the ghouls say we need to grow the economy before we can afford the basics for our people, remember that our economy has made our households - on AVERAGE - amongst the richest in the world. Our issue is not the size of the pie, it's the size of the slice that goes to the rentiers.

These two graphs show the 'recovery is here' vs sliding sideways issue nicely. Change in jobs (1) looks like it might push hard into positive growth, but the (dominant) service jobs data hints at the more likely outcome for 2026... settling at the current state. Basically no real growth at all.

Hidden gem of a dataset - IRD data on people by primary income source. First chart shows annual change in people, second the % change in the number of people with salary and benefit as primary income source. As I keep saying, we're a long way from crossing into the positive.

Another chart to challenge the hopium. The commentariat have seen things turning *towards better* and assumed that means we will get there any time soon. Those lines look like they are trending to slide sideways to me. That would mean no real job growth and continued increase in benefit dependency.

They're not wrong.

We can't keep spending millions every year fixing the same roads over and over. Something has to give.

IMPORTANT: The Dutch invest €595 million annually on urban biking, resulting in €19 BILLION saved in public health care costs alone. That’s how smart governments do the math on investing in better mobility.

Let’s be clear— it WASTES public money to NOT do it.
