Hell yeah.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appeared to wish Russian President Vladimir Putin dead, saying “May he perish” in a Christmas Eve address.

Lowkey really silly to have this bad of concept art when you could just browse Shipbucket for 15 seconds and find like 12 arsenal ship designs that were someone's hyperfixation for 10 years.
oh my god its literally Long Beach's wario

Economics is the most fraudulent "science" and I will die mad about it. The Ur "Philosophy but somehow more fake math"-ass discipline.
also, if you’re gonna levy the “this is human phenomena, not natural laws” criticism, economics is right there c’mon man

I'm willing to bet (ha ha) that people betting on political outcomes have next to zero political intelligence/insight/critical thinking skills. The fact people at CNN perceive this as a replacement for polling makes that self-evident.
Kalshi is now the "official prediction market" of CNN, which has already started to use prediction market odds as a substitute for actual polling. I think this is a very bad idea. CNN wouldn't confirm the payment relationship between the parties when I asked, but more here: slate.com/technology/2...
CNN Is Using an Election Polling Tool That Anyone Can Rig
The network is giving Kalshi, a volatile and easily gamed prediction market, authority it once reserved for actual polling.

The novelization of EndWar remains the only book which physically pained me to read it. The bullshit in this book was LITERALLY headache inducing.

Listen, the document is abhorrent but no administration has been faithful/committed to their NSS for the past 20 years and I don't think that this administration is going to be the one to make significant progress on that problem.
I think I would probably care a lot more about the National Security Strategy if we had an administration that actually cared about acting in line with their own stated policies

Love that every country besides my own seems capable of thwarting (half-assed) authoritarian consolidation.
The South Korean Ministry of Defense has awarded medals of merit to 11 officers for disobeying direct orders of superiors during the martial law fiasco, orders that they deemed to be contrary to the constitution and endangerment to democracy.

It also is like... far from ubiquitous among young men, not a great predictor of political attitudes by itself, and seems to happen for extremely normal and common reasons like "not socializing," "not having a partner," and "being online all day" which is... not just men?

This is glib but: Men should simply make more friends and not be repellent assholes. Stop listening to podcasts and listen to actual people. Its actually not hard to make friends if you try to and if you try to be a good person instead of an edgelord.
my take is that the male loneliness crisis is real but also that no one really has either a cultural or political answer that they're willing to back
yeah i think there's a way to have this discussion that is neither "men are lonely therefore the incels are right" nor "this is all fake, get fucked"

Only doing Suez Crisis discourse from here on out.
can we at least start litigating some different wars? somebody do some wars of the roses posting, that could tie up the timeline for at least two years, you can cross the streams with GoT posting and really deep fry some brain worms
I love how at least once a month we litigate WWII on this website

Unrated aspect is that American hegemony has been so total that when the US began to decline Britain jumped at the chance to decline again as well. That's soft power, bay-bee.
realistically if we see american hegemonic decline in the next couple of years, i don't think china becomes the next hegemon, i think you just end up with a likely more dangerous multipolar world, just out of the fact that the global commons requires a lot out of its hegemon (see Kindleberger)
I think the lesson of the last decade is that when you suddenly remove American leadership the gap gets filled by *nothing*

Europe badly lacks capacity, China has domestic neuroses to match the US, and another way of phrasing "prioritizing regional balances of power" is "more small wars"

Online Progressives be serious about politics for one second challenge (impossible).
Nope, raise a flag of the people, not the flag of the fascists. Why would you waive the flag of a government that built its land base on genocide and has run two concentration camp systems in the past 100 years.
