I thought I'd update my intro/pinned post. At home I'm a recovering illustrator, current sculptor and nervous writer. At the day job, I'm a designer, writer, photographer, videographer, web developer, and so on.

Okay, time for today's #FakeBookTitleFriday and turning it into a thread so I can find mine easier in the future!

This is probably the largest art I've made in a long time; it's 16x48 inches at 300dpi. All of the animals are inspired by petroglyphs and cave art from around the world on top of the shapes found within the animals themselves. #art #caveart #petroglyph #deer #wolves #ravens #raven #wolf #elk
It doesn't help that, despite my overworrying about it all, I have had several times where dinner was one of those meat sticks, a Kind bar, and a package of those peanuts in the photo.
I've said this before, as a diabetic packing for a week's vacation worth of snacks and emergency possibilities is like adding the whole pantry to the suitcase.

Don’t pay to get published. Pay-to-play publishing is awful, predatory, and will do nothing for your career.
That's also over six bags of this granola. I'm hungry for a snack and all, but
My food tracking app will sometimes change my granola from 60 grams to 60 half cup servings. I'm pretty sure 1990 carbs in one shot would kill this old diabetic.
I'm off work today mostly to get packed for next week's trip to Seattle. But I'm also hoping to hurdle the depths of imposter syndrome to write and sculpt things.

Allow me to present to you THE BLACKWATCH, a 137' Tahitian ketch which is the setting of THE NIGHT THAT FINDS US ALL. I made this linocut a couplathree years ago during the writing of the book and boy howdy, waves are hard to draw. Any way...

Some evenings you just delve into Merovingian period Frankish carving patterns and wreck your heavy winter skirt with wood shavings

I'm working on a Saturday Night Live painting commission, focused on the original cast.

Here are some preliminaries.

The Life of Every Creative Person
I can’t make a living writing any type of media but the people who can’t afford to pay me to write the media can still make billions a year selling the media they can’t afford to pay me to write.

The only truly ethical response that a self-described artist can make. Anything else is a betrayal of one's colleagues.
“I am not interested, nor will I ever be interested. I'm 61, and I hope to be able to remain uninterested in using it at all until I croak. ... The other day, somebody wrote me an email, said, ‘What is your stance on AI?’ And my answer was very short. I said, ‘I'd rather die.’” 🫡
Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro says 'I'd rather die' than use generative AI
Del Toro's new Frankenstein adaption reimagines Mary Shelley's 1818 Gothic novel. Frankenstein was like a tech bro: "creating something without considering the consequences," he explains.

They were able to get some of my construction fence graphics up today. That's certainly a good way to lead into a vacation. #design #designer
The new construction fence I designed is in the process of going up here on campus. Eight panels of 45' each (duplicated over a long ways too) counts as the largest thing I've ever designed.
