this thread is hilarious
I sent my husband a link to the Norma Kamali pop up sale with a note saying it wasn't a hint, there's not much there for my height, but I just wanted him to see how cool the looks were. This thread is a SAMPLING of what he sent back...

Years later upon reflection, all those Calvin pissing on something stickers on the back windows of shitty cars & pickups was a cultural harbinger of this miserable wad of untreated mental illness pissing his value-crashing persona all over our shared national heritage, ruining anything he touches
Kennedy Center adds Trump’s name to building
The signage change follows a vote by the board of trustees to rename the performing arts complex “the Trump Kennedy Center.”

Happy Epstein Files Day to those who celebrate. Today's Low Quality Ad is for this "Give me Head" pin, which is how we will all feel when we see how redacted they are.

Rory spends nearly all of every weekday in a fluffy bed on Stacey’s desk, “working.”

So I got him a nameplate to make sure anyone who stops by knows who he is and what his job is.

This is why I am not a Democrat. This in the same week Pelosi’s pet Cuellar is returned to his previous status on all counts, thanks to Trump no less, no harm no foul. Fuck ‘vote blue no matter who’
The wildest part is when it leaks whatever fallout they were trying to avoid will be ten times worse. In its own way that explains quite a bit www.nytimes.com/2025/12/18/u...

Oh my god y'all I had not seen the rest of the Vanity Fair photos holy shit. Christopher Anderson deserves a medal.

Look at this. He left the LIGHT SWITCHES in the edited photos! These assholes look like their well-meaning mom took a picture of them on their first day in a grown-up job.

I know a guy who has sailed the South Pacific a lot & he describes swarms of these kinds of vessels running dark, a mere radar ping with no transponder or running lights, sweeping the oceans clean in a foul cloud of dirty fuel smoke & the stench of rotting fish, seen, heard & smelled from miles away
🚨 BREAKING: 7 supertrawlers are hoovering up our seas off Sussex RIGHT NOW 🚢

These floating fish factories can be longer than 140m with nets 3x the length of the Eiffel Tower. This is industrial overfishing happening on our doorstep 😡

Almost certainly the best thing I was ever told about owls was when I met an owl handler at an owl sanctuary and he told me that the wild owls who lived near the sanctuary worried about the tame show owls there and sometimes stopped by to leave them shrews and mice as presents.

In terms of US politics, Bush v. Gore is the defining event of the century. It set the template: a ruthless right that instinctively seeks power & doesn't give a shit about rule of law...and a bunch of hapless, feckless octogenarian Dems worried about the good opinion of centrist opinion columnists.
The 25th anniversary of Bush v Gore is today. The conspiracy mongering & corruption of the GOP has been brewing for a long time.

Roberts, Barrett and Kavanaugh were all on Bush's legal team, where they pushed unfounded legal theories. SC justices were already enmeshed in voter fraud myths.
Here's Sandra Day O'Connor endorsing News Max levels of voter fraud conspiracies in the 2000 election.

um, Kyle, buddy... I'm very much not a legal expert and I already knew that presidential pardons don't apply to state charges. This isn't a "sides disagree" issue in need of an independent referee. Open a window and report whether or not its raining
NEW: President Donald Trump says he is granting a pardon to Tina Peters, who was convicted on state charges related to tampering with Colorado's election systems. Legal experts say presidential pardons do not apply to state charges.

Of all the things the US has chosen to do differently than the rest of the world, I think this may be the dumbest. You'd have trouble finding any urban neighborhood in Europe or Latin America without a plaza. It's just so basic. And yet the US has virtually none! No public space, no public.
Every neighborhood needs a leafy pedestrian plaza—a place to meet friends, grab a bite, or just relax.

Brexit was Trump's John the Baptist moment in the Anglosphere. In what ways might everything, in both the USA and UK in ways similar but also unique to the polity of both, be different now if the socio-political inflection point had landed on a different side of inexorable demographic changeover?

OK, here's something weird about me I need to confess to the world: I have a crippling hatred of passive voice. "There is" & "There are" grind my gears, particularly in scripted dialogue. I literally rewrite spoken sentences out loud while watching a TV show or movie. Luckily, I also live alone

as a nation, we're suffering now b/c our 2nd Founding post Civil War failed at the end of Reconstruction & we cultivated a regional one-party apartheid state for a century. Finally corrected in '64 & '65 w/ the CRA & VRA, the fascist petrie dish shattered & poisoned our body politic, perhaps fatally
I say this as someone born in the literal cradle of the confederacy, only a few miles from where the first shots were fired: the civil war was only a partial victory, and ending reconstruction early meant the ideological descendants of slavers and other racists could start playing the long game.
The 13-15th Amendments were adopted after the Civil War in an effort to make America live up to the lofty ideals of its founding. They are systematically trying to undo them.
