The real job of a project manager is not putting together a project plan, then monitoring status against the plan.

It's figuring out how to get people to do the things they don't want to do when they need to be done, aka tricking other people into doing their jobs.

My oldest kid just walked in the door from hanging out with friends and asked if we could watch the John Adams miniseries together tonight.

I've reached a new tier of parenthood. This is incredible.

The first official confirmation that Noem herself made the decision not to turn the planes around. A couple hundred men were tortured as a result — and soon after, the Supreme Court confirmed that the Trump admin’s Alien Enemies Act process was a total violation of due process.
BREAKING:

“After receiving that legal advice, Secretary Noem directed that the AEA detainees who had been removed from the United States before the Court’s order could be transferred to the custody of El Salvador. “

We got the results back on our 9-year-old's ADOS-2 assessment. The overall result was not a surprise, but what did surprise me is that it's not even close. Like, he doesn't fall into the broader "autism spectrum" category, he's not even level 1, but it took *7 years* to get him assessed.

I started reintroducing dairy yesterday because Thanksgiving. We have non-dairy alternatives to everything just in case, but I'm hopeful I can do a small slice of custard pie by Thursday.
We've definitively concluded that gluten is also off the list of things I can eat, meaning fructans as a category are probably a lost cause. 😕

Debating whether to move on to fructose or galactans next. I think fructose will be an easy win, but I really, really miss beans.

While ICE abductions, often in broad daylight, have provoked fear and outrage, the escalation is also unleashing a less visible form of economic treachery on Chicago’s immigrant working class: wage theft, lost income, work speedups, and economic slumps that spread through neighborhoods. My latest.
Visible and Invisible: How ICE Is Terrorizing Chicago’s Working Class
Fear, panic, hiding for days—this is the experience of families under assault by the Trump Administration

The major force pushing Biden out of the race wasn’t a change in polling, but a change in attitude from Democratic elites and donors. And those are the people most susceptible to, say, headlines in New York Magazine.

I'm just going to continue to scream into the void from inside the tech industry: no one, not even Amazon, has advanced enough AI to replace 1800 engineers.

They're just firing workers and piling their work on other *human* workers without paying them more, as companies have ever done.
WARN filings expose 4.7k of Amazon's 14k cuts last month. 500 PMs were laid off while engineers (1,800 laid off) were hit hardest, mostly SDE IIs which refutes the "management bloat" narrative.

The trend is clear: Big Tech continues to purge junior roles due to "AI efficiency gains."
Amazon cut more than 1,800 engineers in record layoffs, despite saying it needs to innovate faster
Nearly 40% of the roughly 4,700 positions Amazon eliminated across Washington, New York, New Jersey and California were engineering jobs.

Children with ADHD who are on medications for ADHD are also much less likely to go on to start smoking! I'm not sure how much of that is specific to nicotine though, since they're also less likely to go on to drink heavily or use various other non-stimulant drugs.

Can someone explain to AP while firing on people during a "CEASE. FIRE." means the ceasefire was violated, not tested? Especially when the same party has been firing on people regularly since they agreed to cease?

Do I think that Trump forgot he was supposed to hate Mamdani and instead just got excited about meeting the handsome, charming young mayor of New York? Yes.

Do I also think Trump's positive response to meeting Mamdani is embarrassing for Dems who snubbed him b/c he's Muslim? Yes. Yes, I do.

This week, I withdrew from a speaking engagement at a public university because they sent me a list of prohibited “words & concepts.” I will not humor this censorship. It does a disservice to the stories I’m discussing & the audience, who deserve unfettered access to information & conversation.

My quality of life is infinitely better with ADHD medication. I no longer have reoccuring severe, short depressive episodes.

If this administration bans it or makes it much harder to get, I will not be remotely okay.

Before my diagnosis, I chugged coffee & took antidepressants that did nothing.
I was diagnosed with bipolar (I'm not) anxiety (I wasn't) and depression (okay, fair) before anyone considered I might be ADHD. What this article fails to mention is how many severely ADHD people turn to other drugs if they are not medicated. I had severe insomnia and suicidal ideation at times
